Earth Hero founder Connie Huft, is a registered nurse, board certified holistic health practitioner, and a serial entrepreneur. She has created and owned several businesses, which includes her most successful, a private farrier practice which she has operated for the last 15 years.

After a huge forest fire that extinguished over 20 acres of plants and trees, Connie and her husband experienced a large-scale ant infestation. Dozens of huge ant hills, had started to invade their property, and living space, making life miserable.

They started to look for non-toxic insect killers that would solve this ant invasion. Five big box and hardware stores later, they couldn't find anything natural or less toxic than the standard chemical pesticide.

Frustrated, but not wanting to deal with the ants, they bought a popular granular ant killer.  To their dismay, the chemical smell was so potent that it was hard to breathe the fumes and they had to stay away. This granular pesticide not only DIDN'T kill the ants it posed a danger to their free-range chickens, dogs, cats, and other wildlife which might mistake them for food.
