What We Do

Eventida is an emerging web application with the goal of making it easier to promote events and related services.

Built for the mainstream, with a focus on accessibility and under-served groups' needs.

There is no fee to use the basic features of the application. As more features are released, subscription plans will be set up. We are also available for hire to customize event pages and help clients with overall promotional efforts.

By working with clients, we see what is time consuming or challenging when promoting events, then come up with software based solutions, and continually improve Eventida. Clients served include Knowbility, GURC at Austin Community College, Texas School for the Deaf, Sprint Relay, and more.

What People Can do on Eventida

Currently, users can:

  • post their event or event service listing
  • point to their site or use Eventida for their event/profile page
  • share their event or service listing on social media, with the “share” information pre-formatted to include the most important details and maximize sharing
  • save listings to their "favorites" list
  • search or browse other event and/or event service listings and contact the hosts

Eventida does NOT offer registration software or ticket sales.  Users can link up to their registration site from the promotion pages.

The goal is to integrate with those registration / ticket sales tools and other event / promotion related apps via API.

Eventida is unique from other event listing sites in that users can select which languages are spoken / interpreted at the event or business: English, ASL (American Sign Language), or Spanish. A “CC” (captioned/CART) button is currently being added.

Our Story

Eventida was built by two web developers, Elise and Lee Whitworth, who have been offering web development to clients for over 8 years (visit Satdaya Studios).

A prototype version of the Eventida site was launched successfully in the summer of 2009 to promote the first Global Deaf Women Retreat and Texas School for the Deaf Homecoming event, attracting over 2,500 attendees. Then, in 2010 a version was released where one can post and edit their own events and has been continually improving since.

Since then, Elise and Lee have continued to service their clients (to make a living) while growing Eventida during their spare time. As parents of two young children and running their own business, it gets challenging to find the time. The site needs a lot more attention to prosper, hence the Fundable campaign. Help make this vision a reality!

What is the Vision?

Features we are working on include the ability to:

  • create recurring events
  • customize event pages’ sidebars - great for sponsors, advertising, special offers
  • set up a schedule of events and embed on their website, listing or cal style
  • set email notification preferences by language, location, interests
  • subscribe to / customize a list of events via RSS or iCal
  • embed an event and/or event schedule on website(s)
  • "friend / group / private / invite only" event and schedule sharing
  • open API for other tools to integrate with us

… and many more, following the direction of user demands.

For the exact features we will develop, see the chart in the "What We Will Develop" section below.

Encourage More Accessible Events

Other important features include adding more accessibility features such as a wheelchair icon, braille icon, and so on. The ability to easily request accessibility at events will be added.

Educational materials will be ready for event planners to understand what they need to do to provide accessibility.

Embedding Events & Event Schedules - What's That?

This is a brand new concept.  To make sure it is clear, here's an example image below where a website ASLFamilies.org uses Eventida to manage its events.  With the schedule of events embedded on their website, every time they post events on Eventida, it automatically shows up on their website too.

Think of it like youtube - you see youtube videos embedded everywhere.  Imagine doing the same with events!

Example embedded schedule of events (beta):

The sample above uses an iFrame method - an RSS and iCal option will be available as well, for those who prefer to customize the look and feel of the event listings appearing on their website.

What We Will Develop

First and foremost - we will build a better knowledge-base and support system with tutorials, FAQs, etc. So that as each feature below is built, you’ll be able to learn it quickly or use it to get quick help if you run into trouble.

The features listed on the subscription chart below (above the yellow bar) is what we commit to delivering within 12 weeks if the funding campaign is met.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The features listed under the yellow bar MIGHT be developed within 12 weeks, no guarantee. If you see a feature you really want for your company or yourself, see the “Bonus Feature Development” section below for how you can make sure we develop that feature.

Help Support Eventida!

Eventida needs your help!   Are you willing to pledge a small amount, as low as $5, to gain a tool that will help you and many others?

How it Works

  1. Read this page, watch the video - if you agree this is definitely needed, you pledge $5 or more - your card will not be charged.
  2. Help by sharing on social media and telling people - others submit pledges until the fundraising goal is met.
  3. Only once the total funding goal is met, your card is charged and we'll send you your rewards by deadline (see right column).

This way, you are certain that your donation will be put to good use because the company has all the funding it needs to accomplish the purpose.

Where Will the Money Go?

The funds will be used to bring another web developer on board and speed up the development progress on Eventida. See the “vision” below for details.

Basically, you’ll be helping to create a job AND a tool that will be personally and professionally useful to you.  Win win!

Bonus Feature Development!

For every extra $5,000 raised beyond the first $10,000 raised we will commit to delivering two extra features under the “Bonus Features” list on the chart above.

The Open API and Mobile Application features equals two features ($10,000 each).

Donors who donate $5,000 or more get to pick the features they want. Two donors may combine their “decision power” and choose the API or Mobile Application.
