If tourism does not return to New Orleans and fast...we are doomed! We have nothng else to rely upon to rebuild this city. Are you aware of where our money and the states money comes from primarily? Let's be realistic...we already lived in "cancer alley". If Lakeview is that "toxic" to you...PLEASE STAY AWAY! Don't kid yourself about our current state versus where we were August 28th. We only made a better gumbo of what already existed. As soon as the greenery returns that horrible smell will be filtered. The paranoia that this smell is chemicals is just that...paranoia. We are no worse off than we were and here we sit supplying the United States with 30% of the energy poisoning ourselves for naught! Are you really concerned about 60 Minutes and their irresponsible journalism? Please...a mountain can be made out of a mole hill over this "toxicity". There were over 100 carcinogens in the river water prior to Katrina. I doubt that has changed. The media loves to prey upon any negativity and promoting "toxic" New Orleans will hurt all of us in the end. Get the facts straight before you destroy the city any further. It won't matter how high the levees are if the rest of the world is afraid to visit New Orleans! Unfortunately, we put all of our eggs in one basket a long time ago and that is tourism!!!
