Save a Puppy

It was late last fall when I took my dog Rara for her final car ride. With the windows rolled down we made the rounds to all of the spots in town where she played during her 13 years. Taking her to the vet that day was one of the most difficult things I've ever done but her body was just giving up and time was running out. To say that I miss her in no way explains how I feel but I think it's time for our family to bring another dog into the house and I would like that dog to be a puppy from a high kill rate shelter in the south.

There are an unusually high number of stray dogs and puppies in the southern states and simply not enough space in the shelters to accomodate them. I think we might all be horrified to learn how many are killed each day. There are intricate networks of volunteers that take as many of these dogs as possible and shuffle them around the US to be housed in foster homes until they find their permanent home. These people volunteer their time and resources to save these animals and in return they ask for an adoption fee to help offset a small portion of their rescue expenses.

We're a small hard working family with 2 very young children who would enjoy the experience of raising a puppy to be a caring member of the family while saving a dogs life as well. If you can spare a few dollars to make this small dream a reality we would certainly appreciate the help.
