Legal Fees Help Needed to Fight BSL & Keep Service Dog

Hi, I live in Kansas City Kansas. There is a city ordinance here that bans several breeds of dogs grouped together as "pit bulls." Frisco my 3 yo service dog is an American Staffordshire Terrier which is one of the breeds banned. I have lived in this house for 6.5 years. I had a previous service dog Electra who was also an American Staffordshire Terrier. In May of last year I got a ticket for "harboring a "pit bull." I have been fighting this legal case since then.

It is my legal contention that service dogs do not fall under the municple regulation. I was ruled against at the municple level and am now at the state level for appeal. I believe the next appeal will be the federal level. The city has made it clear that they will appeal if I win at any level. I am asking for $500 to help for now since I am on disability and have a very limited income. Any help you can provide would be greatly appriciated.

the case in SF fed court is being settled, and plaintiffs are dropping their lawsuit which said that the ADA was being violated by SF ordinance. i believe this may mean that the city of SF will exempt the dogs without the need for a trial. if that is the case i also believe that the legal fees may be awarded to plaintiff. the case has gone on for about 2yrs and briefing on ADA was very extensive but i can get the pleadings. they might help your case and end it before having to go too far.
