Rolli, a tiny 6 month old pup (27 lbs) has a bad case of demodeptic mange. The best part is that she came from a "breeder" who couldn't "afford" to treat her. We took her to the vet today and she's currently being treated and in foster care. She was worth it - a little wiggle butt if I ever saw one, and loves anyone she meets!

2 weeks ago a good samaritan found an emaciated lab mix with a wound on his tail. She took him to the shelter. The day before yesterday, she found the dog again, in the same spot, with duct tape wrapped around his tail. She called the shelter who advised her that the dog had been claimed and that he "had" to be given back to them, and if she brought him in again, the same would happen.
The dog has no tags, no chip, no collar, and his tail was so infected it is being amputated as we speak. He is also being neutered, and was tested for HW/lymes. He is definitely thin and needs some TLC. Despite it all, he is a "smiler" and fierce tail wagger (probably how he got it hurt in the first place).
Needless to say, this was a cost we were not anticipating right now, and all help is appreciated.
Please help us to help those we have in care, as well as those who are waiting to come. We have 6 dogs in the adoption program (5 are being fostered in my home), and 60 cats are also available. We are working fruitlessly to save a feral colony of 20-30 that we are spaying and neutering as we can. Monthly cat litter costs ALONE are $160!!! We just purchased our own Microchip Scanner and Microchips at a cost of $335. We have a dog in need of neutering. AND we are hoping to work with the local low-cost spay/neuter program to be able to approve more applications by matching the "copay" required of applicants.
