PETS ARE PART OF THE FAMILY IN MOST
American households. But in homes where there’s violence, pets are often threatened or injured by
the violent partner as a way to intimidate or control other family members. In surveys of women entering
domestic violence shelters, nearly half report that their pets had been threatened, injured, or killed by their
partners. In addition, others report that they delayed leaving their homes because they feared for their pets’ safety.

Most domestic violence shelters cannot accept pets because of health regulations, space limitations, additional costs, and
potential liabilities.

I need funds to provide long term foster care for these animals. I need most of it for medical costs mainly for exams and shots.
