I am a volunteer with Catahoula Rescue Inc, a North America-wide non-profit rescue that works solely on the time and efforts of volunteers.
We have many needy dogs as this breed originates and is most prevalent in the southern states, which are also the shelters that are more likely to be gassing shelters, or heartstick shelters. Both of these means for euthanasia are traumatic to the animal, and we do our very best to pull these wonderful loving dogs out before their time is up, and they have to suffer their way to death. Phenomenal lack of space is the reason that these dogs -often young and very adoptable- are killed in this manner. Some are given up to 60 days, but some are killed immediately if they are owner turn-ins as opposed to strays.

This collection is to help me fly Daisy, a young female Houla from CA to BC, Canada where I can foster and rehabilitate her. Why choose her? Well, because we thought she might just be able to tough it out at the shelter long enough to be adopted, but in recently checking up on her I was astounded to see the physical difference in her. She went from a lively, healthy, curious girl to one that just look scared, wild, and IMMENSLEY stressed (see image above). I have got to get her out. I can have another volunteer pull her, but I desperately need to come up with the cost of a crate and flight ticket to me, here in dog-loving BC. Catahoulas are rare here, and VERY adoptable. It frustrates me to no end to see what's happening to all these dogs that would be so sought after up here. If I can just GET THEM HERE!!
So, I'm asking, begging, PLEADING for your help! Any little bit helps! It adds up to a measly $480 very quickly, I promise!

Look at that face, and tell her you can't help- that she has to stay. I know I can't do it.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE BEFORE PHOTO TO SEE HOW SHE STARTED. I AM ONLY ABLE TO POST ONE PHOTO, SO I CHOSE THE STRESSED, AFTER PHOTO. DEGENERATION IS APPEARANT!
