"Project of the Mexican Sunrise" is the newest venture from your favorite Angelenos, Joshua Adam Brueckner and Sarah Hope Wells. They are, as you might have figured out, going to ride their bikes from LA to the Mexican border and back in one day. Though this may sound impossible, it actually is. That's right. There's really no way to do it. Unless you're Superman, which, as you may know, Joshua and Hope are not. So they'll have to spend the night in Tijuana, which is scary enough, before heading back up the coast to the City of Angels.

How does this wild ride affect you? Because there are many, many children in LA whose schools have been badly affected by the huge California budget cuts. This is not cool, because what often happens is these urban children resort to other, less savory pastimes when they are not being actively engaged by positive ones, like, say, music or art or basketball. You also may know that gangs in LA are a huge and ugly problem, and gang activity has all sorts of roots; but one of them is surely underfunded educational programs. So our brilliant idea is to raise money and give it to a specific music education organization.

We are happy to announce that the proceeds from "Project of the Mexican Sunrise" will benefit The Mr. Hollands Opus Foundation, which funds musical instruments for children.

Your job is to donate ten dollars.

Literally ten dollars.

So you're saying to yourself, "These people are nuts." Yes. This is true. But also, you should know that we will pay for the bikes, equipment, food, lodging, Mexican bribes, and tie-dye t-shirts all on our own. Every dime that is donated will go to The Mr. Hollands Opus Foundation. So that's cool too!
