the Breast Cancer 3 Day Boston Walk

I'm walking in the Boston Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day this August 15-17. In order to walk the 60 miles over 3 days, I must raise a minimum of $2,200.

In August of 2000, my mother was the person being diagnosed with breast cancer. At first it’s hard to believe, then reality sets in. You think or hope it won’t happen to someone close, but it does. We fell apart; she did not. She fought and fought hard. She never complained once, all through chemotherapy and radiation, through losing her hair and sporting a temporary dragon tattoo on her head that she let Allyson apply, and through a voluntary study that extended her chemotherapy by 10 treatments in order to help future victims of breast cancer.

She is the most selfless person I know, always smiling. She can make anyone feel instantly at ease. She makes special dinner for those of us who don’t eat onions or pork or pizza… somehow she knows what all six of her kids (especially Leo) like and dislike. She makes sure there is a large variety of ice cream and plenty of snacks. She always has cookies for her grand dogs and lets them sit on her lap!

Cancer is a horrible disease. Please help me fight to eradicate it!
