Eagle Scout Project

My name is Cole Bent, and I am a Life Scout with Boy Scouts of America. I have been in Boy Scouts since my enrollment in the second grade. The ultimate goal of every boy scout is the achievement of the highest rank of scouting which is the Eagle Scout. It is in regard to my pursuit of the Eagle merit of achievement that I send you this letter. My chosen community service project is to replace the wood-chip ground cover of an elementary play-yard with a more pliable and soft poured-in-place rubber material. The cushiony foundation of the rubberized ground cover will provide a safer playing environment for the enjoyment of children using the equipment. Additionally, the poured-in-place rubber product is an effective measure for encouraging global conservation as it is made from the recycling of used tires. The play-yard is on the property of Christian Mission Church and is open to the public several days weekly. With the installation of the rubber, I will be enhancing the safety of the play-yard, the aesthetic appeal of the play-yard, as well as providing a cleaner play area with the elimination of the wood chips. To make this project a success, I am required to raise the funds, coordinate the preparatory labor, organize a team of volunteers, and be a part of the labor force.
I am requesting your financial partnership in my endeavor to make this surface product change and with the accomplishment of the project, achieve my goal of becoming an Eagle Scout.
I have known within myself these past three years that I would like my community service project to be of benefit to Christian Mission Church. In this way, it is my intent to give back to this organization who welcomes all people of our community through their doors and who, although is small in size, is a mighty force for unity and works within the community of all people.
