African United Partnerships: Prevent Spread of AIDS/HIV From Mother To Child In Africa

This project prevents transfer of HIV/AIDS from mother to child. Sub-Sahara Africa has over 22 million people infected with HIV estimated from 2007. That number is almost double the population of the entire state of Ohio of that same year. Ninety percent of the HIV-infected people in sub-Sahara Africa are cases of Mother To Child Transmission (MTCT). African United Partnerships has set out to make a difference to drastically reduce the rate of MTCT.

By setting new training methods and treatment in hospitals when dealing with pregnant women we can reduce the rate of MTCT by as high as 35-50%. We will train 12 hospitals in Sub-Sahara Africa for prevention of MTCT (pMTCT).
