Tara & Aaron volunteering in Tanzania

PLEASE help us fundraise for our volunteer program in Tanzania. We will be spending 4 weeks helping in Orphanages and Community Center's near Dar es Saalam. We will live in dormitory style community building with 10 other volunteers.

Although changing the world, seems an impossible task, we feel that when we each commit to small steps forward will it turn around. Ghandi once said that "you must be the change you wish to see in the world" and we can't wait to get started!

We will use your donations for purchasing and transporting goods and supplies, for example, school supplies, clothes, personal hygiene, etc.

The other costs we will need to meet are:
Our flights (approx. $1800 each), vaccinations, travel insurance, airports taxes. Global Volunteer Network - Application Fee: US $500.00. The application fee covers administration, marketing, program information, communication.
Tanzania Program Fee: Cost for 1 month will be US $770.00 (per person)

Facts about Tanzania:
More than 80% of Tanzania's population live in rural areas and only 62% of that rural population has access to clean drinking water.

Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world with the average per capita income at $250 and 73% of the population living on less than $2 a day.

The use of the environment and natural resources accounts for 66% of gross domestic product, provides 85% of exports, and employs 90% of the work force.

The conflict in the Congo between rebel soldiers and government forces has been raging since the mid-1990s and claimed the lives of 3.3 million people - the highest documented death toll since World War II.

As a result of innocents fleeing war zones, Tanzania is host to around 400,000 refugees from other countries in the region.
