Quick Pitch

OUR MISSION: Left Coast Power Yoga offers fitness-based Vinyasa Yoga classes set to upbeat music in a warmed room. We are a supportive community of practitioners that value the mind/body health of themselves and others.

What is it?

Left Coast Power Yoga

IS...

A dynamic and vigorous 60-minute flow practice in a heated room (around 85 degrees).
A total-body workout that tones muscles and detoxifies organs.
    Radiant skin and improved energy!
An open, welcoming community of like-minded folks.
Meant to be practiced 3 times a week or more.
Consistent. Students will get the same high quality instruction from any of our teachers.
Set to fun and upbeat music - because music makes everything better.
A place where gatherings, music, and art happen too!
Dedicated to donating a portion of profits to Girls Education and Animal Rescue.

   IS NOT...

    Competitive, Judgmental or Egocentric.
For those that hate to sweat!
For Yogis that practice only occasionally.
Based on the style of any "Yoga guru".
Closed-minded. We welcome feedback from all of our students!

Our Accomplishments so far...

We opened our doors in mid-April 2013 and so far already have almost 300 new users onto our Email list. We are growing steadily, however we still have key improvements that need to be made! Our heating system, floors and mirrors have not yet been paid for, and we are hoping that you can help us. All of our Yelp ratings are 5 stars, and people have been talking about us online! Please help us grow so we can support our Mission. Thank you!

How We're Different

We feel that we are different from  the rest for the following reasons...

1. We are the only heated Power Yoga studio in Oakland, CA!

2. We are dedicated to keeping our prices affordable, offering student / teacher discounts, Community Donation classes and Work / Trade options. Yoga should be accessible to all!

3. We are excited to become a name in our community by hosting Art Openings, movie screenings, and other events in our space when classes are not being held.

4. We are currently exploring offering no cost / low cost yoga programs for at-risk teens, particularly teenage girls in the Greater Oakland areas.

Our Wonderful Team

Wendy Medeiros - Owner

Wendy’s unique style of teaching sprung from her singer/songwriter and clothing design background… both requiring a lot of devotion and attention to detail. Infusing her teaching are insights gained through her own personal practice, Buddhist philosophy, and training with Bryan Kest and Baron Baptiste. Wendy is an influential teacher of teachers and students alike, offering a dynamic, sweaty workout against the backdrop of experience music and intelligent sequencing. When not engaging in Yoga-related activities, Wendy designs clothes for her Label “One Trick Pony ” and is a Feline “Trap/Neuter/Return” advocate and educator.

Whitney Walsh - Teacher

Whitney received her teacher training in Austin, Texas in January 2010. She has been practicing yoga since 2003 and began a daily practice in 2007. Whitney is an attorney certified in both Texas and California but has found true satisfaction in teaching yoga, connecting with students, and continuing to advance her own personal practice. She routinely attends workshops and conferences to enhance her understanding of and expand her knowledge about teaching and practicing yoga. Whitney has found that a daily dose of power yoga keeps her mind at ease and her body strong. She hopes to give her students that same experience by providing a physically demanding class while reminding everyone not to take themselves so seriously.

Rachel Rajput - Owner

Rachel Rajput has been teaching Yoga, Dance and Theater classes for the last 10 years all over the SF Bay area. She is so excited to bring Left Coast Power Yoga and the joy of movement to the Grand Lake community! Rachel weaves bits of Yogic philosophy into every class and hopes that students come out of her classes ready to take on the world like true Warriors. She started practicing Yoga in 2000, and fell in love with Power Yoga in 2004. Rachel is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois and is currently working towards her MBA from National-Louis University. She is an RYT-200 from Laughing Lotus Yoga School in SF, training with hr amazing Jasmine Tarkeshi and Keith Borden. Rachel worked for 8 years in the world of educational administration, creating and marketing childrens' summer camps and after-school programs. She is also a proud member of Girls Learn.org, helping to educate young people about the importance of quality girls' education in the US and abroad.
