Recovery Passport is a comprehensive online application that combines the best in modern technology with the absolute cutting-edge in addiction recovery and wellness research, and puts those powerful tools to work helping recovering addicts and the rehabilitation professionals that support them manage the ongoing recovery process.

As addicts and their allies alike know, addiction recovery is a lifelong, day-by-day process, and relapse is a very real, very powerful threat that addicts stare down every single day. Too often, what gets in the way of an addict’s continued successful recovery is isolation — the feeling that their disease cuts them off from the support networks they need to successfully stay in recovery.

At Recovery Passport, we can’t help but wonder: what would happen if, instead of being cut off, recovering addicts were plugged in? What if we equipped addicts—and the counselors, sponsors and recovery centers who work with them—with tools that facilitate communication, aid accountability, and provide a real window into the ongoing recovery process?

Recovery Passport is a SaaS (Software as a Service) application that combines evidence-based clinical tools with the very best innovations in interactive social and gaming technologies to provide the first comprehensive online rehabilitation recovery and monitoring resource for recovering addicts and rehabilitation centers alike.

For recovering addicts, Recovery Passport is a way to stay in control and fight for their own recovery and after-care.

For rehabilitation professionals, Recovery Passport is an invaluable tool for monitoring their patients' ongoing recovery process. The app provides a behavioral record of how individual patients and targeted patient popoulations are managing their in-patient and out-patient recovery processes, so that rehabilitation professionals can use this data to ensure that they continue to provide the absolute best standard of care possible.

The Recovery Passport application is compatible with a wide range of web platforms—iOS, Android, Windows, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox—and has over 200 features, including:

Remote monitoring, so that rehab counselors can monitor their patients’ recovery process.

Direct phone or video access between patients and counselors, so patients can get the help they need when they need it.

Social networking that helps recovering addicts share the struggles, triumphs and questions of recovery with the people that matter most to them.

A wellness library of videos, blogs, websites, chat forms and other resources to help addicts stay informed, stay motivated and stay in recovery.

Geo-location functionality that lets recovering addicts find rehab facilities, meetings and fellow recovering addicts near them when they need support.

Data collection capabilities that universities, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and medical and behavioral researchers can use to further improve society's understanding of what addiction is and better meet the needs of addicts in recovery.

Research tells us that the foundation of any addict's successful recovery is built on accountability — accountability to one's self, to sponsors and fellow addicts, and to the friends and loved ones whose lives are impacted every day by an addict's sobriety, or lack thereof.

Accountability starts and ends with community. By helping those in recovery connect with an engaged social community of friends and family, counselors and fellow recovering addicts, and by giving them access to resources and information related to addiction recovery, Recovery Passport equips addicts to stay clean, stay committed and stay accountable for their own recovery and well being.

If Recovery Passport can reach and help enough recovering addicts to affect just a 5% decrease in recidivism (or relapse rate), that translates to:

that could return to productive and rewarding lives

whose lives would be positively influenced by an addict's successful recovery

in health care and law enforcement costs, car accidents, crime and lost productivity resulting from addiction-related problems

We are still in the early development stages, but this fundraise will act as the catalyst we need to take quantum leaps toward getting Recovery Passport into the hands of the people we are designing it to help. Promising developments so far include:

A software developer on board, ready to start building as soon as we cross the finish line with this fundraise

Beta-test centers already in place, along with an active pre-sales model that we will activate as beta testing approaches
