Quick Pitch

When we heard the stories of women who were rebuilding their lives from sex slavery, abuse, and fighting their own poverty in developing countries...we started this company.

Tybeta helps women by bringing their jewelry art to you...and through you to others. Here you'll find quality indigenous and Tybeta-designed pieces to enjoy. And every purchase made helps change the lives of women in the world. Your support of their craftsmanship helps overcome poverty and gives hope. Over the next year, look for heartfelt stories of women from Kenya, Thailand, Nicaragua, Peru and more...of women who are thankful for you and your purchase of their work. We do this through home parties hosted by women running their own home based businesses. Thereby creating opportunities for women everywhere to provide for themselves and their families.

Product/Service Details

Tybeta is a direct selling party plan company focused on improving the lives of women everywhere. We are in the start-up phase developing our product offerings, compensation plan, party format and much more. We have already formed partnerships with jewelry makers in Thailand whose primary mission is rescuing young women from sex slavery. These women are then given meaningful jobs making jewelry. The goal is to rescue 100,000 women by 2020 and these women will need an ever expanding market for their creations. Tybeta uses the proven format of home parties and relational selling to bring these creations to market. This gives women...and men...in the U.S. the chance to run their own home based businesses making a supplemental to full time income. Their work in the U.S. continues to provide revenue for women overseas.

The other source for Tybeta jewelry are groups of women in developing countries creating unique indigenous and tribal jewelry. We source from women who don't currently have access to the U.S. market and are struggling to sell enough jewelry to support their families. Through Tybeta these women have the chance to increase capacity and earn more for themselves and their families. We are working with partners in Kenya and elsewhere to identify local women crafting jewelry.

Traction & Accomplishments

Tybeta grows out of six years experience in a brick and mortar retail bead, art and jewelry store. Making the transition to a direct selling platform is a natural move to expand access to the Tybeta jewelry line. Designed by accomplished artist, beadmaker, and teacher Betty Hoppensteadt, Tybeta jewelry has a track record of success in a local suburban Chicago market. With our connections to jewelry makers in Thailand these designs will be produced for a much larger audience.

Tybeta founder Tim Kurth has traveled extensively in South America, Latin America and Africa. His connections are right now sourcing indigenous suppliers for the Tybeta catalog.

We are working with Direct Selling Strategies for the launch of Tybeta. DSS is very well respected in the Direct Selling industry helping launch Origami Owl in 2012 (a top performing direct selling company that year). They have also worked with Tomboy Tools, Signature Home Styles, Pampered Chef and many others. Their expertise is an invaluable asset in our successful launch.

How We're Different

While there are many places to buy jewelry, Tybeta is the only place where your jewelry purchase is guaranteed to directly impact the lives of women around the world. Our diligent attention to sourcing our jewelry from women who are making a better life for themselves means you get beautiful jewelry and change women's lives for the better. We are, in reality, forming business partnerships between women in the United States selling jewelry and women around the world making jewelry.

Use of Funds

This round of funding will move us forward with access to the full services of Direct Selling Strategies. DSS brings their expertise to support Tybeta as we work on catalog design, sourcing support, developing all our necessary infrastructure to prepare for soft launch and acquiring initial inventory.

Once we have these pieces in place our next step is the first round of equity funding. The need in this round is estimated at $200,000 and will get Tybeta through our soft launch phase. During this phase we will select 20 or more Style Consultants who will host parties over the course of three months. We will refine our processes, tune up our offerings and prepare for the next phase.

The final phase is full national launch. Targeted for January 2014 the full national launch will require one more round of equity funding. Our amount needed will be based on the results of our soft launch tests. Once Tybeta goes national the goal is to reach a level of 'organic growth' (about 350) in the number of Style Consultants within year one and grow from there.
