Ambient Clinical Analytics:
Fast Facts

The Ambient Clinical Analytics AWARE™ Platform uses Mayo Clinic licensed technologies including over 1,200 rules and algorithms to give providers real-time point-of-care visualization of patients’ holistic condition by organ system.

AWARE™ detects and treats conditions like sepsis, reducing hospital stays and saving lives.

Where It All Began

Dr. Brian Pickering, M.B., B.CH, part of the AWARE™ and Ambient Clinical Analytics team, first met Al Berning in 2013 on the grounds of Mayo Clinic Hospital - St Marys Campus in Rochester, while Al was a Mayo Clinic entrepreneur in residence.

Brian and his colleagues had just finished developing and evaluating the first version of AWARE™. They knew they had created an innovative and game changing solution for providers that would drive organizations to become real-time health systems.

They felt on top of the world because they could use AWARE™ to filter through the noise in the electronic medical records (EMR) and direct their attention straight to the essential data for the timely management of critically ill patients.

Al and the Ambient Clinical Analytics team have guided the AWARE™ innovations through patent filings, regulation approvals, funding rounds, product development, sales, and customer support. Although they knew they had created something special, they had no idea exactly how much the AWARE™ solution would positively impact patient care and health care organizations by allowing provider organizations to move towards a real-time health system.

Patients Pay The Price

Clinical teams spend hours scouring through EMR for information needed to develop situational awareness for each patient.

The amount of time involved in finding patient information quickly leads to preventable medical errors, as well as physician and nurse burnout.

Timely and accurate treatment of sepsis is paramount in reducing the long-term effects of sepsis infection and saves lives.

Saving Time, Saving Lives

Ambient Clinical partnered with Mayo Clinic to launch Ambient Clinical Analytics and the AWARE™ platform of point-of-care diagnostics and clinical command center solutions, developed by clinicians for clinicians.

Ambient has become a trusted provider of remote and point-of-care analytics and data visualization solutions that provide real-time monitoring of vital process of care information for healthcare providers around the world.

The Ambient AWARE™ software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) point-of-care solutions stand alone in their ability to reduce costs and errors, save lives, improve the patient experience, and create provider efficiency for conditions like sepsis.

Ambient’s visual analytics with command center functionality and “smart” bedside-based notifications are helping health systems elevate themselves to evidence-based, high-performing organizations by utilizing clinical analytics and iconography that provide situational awareness on the total patient condition to multi-disciplinary teams. The AWARE™ family of products is designed for rapid implementation and easy adoption by end-user physicians, nurses, and other clinical team members.
