Anyone who’s ever had to search for a job knows that there’s a lot of advice out there about career fulfillment:

But when it comes to actually finding that job, the job, the one that fulfills and rewards and inspires you, suddenly everything goes quiet. You send your résumé out into the void and cross your fingers, all the while steeling yourself for the very real possibility that, even if you get hired, you’ll be going through this same chaotic process again a year from now, two years from now, three years from now….

And companies are largely on their own, too. They’re bombarded with hundreds, even thousands of résumés for each position they advertise, with no real way to tell if the person on the page matches the person in real life, or if that person will be a good fit for the needs and culture of their business.

At Better Weekdays®, we want to take the guesswork out of both sides of the equation and help job seekers and companies alike find the employment match that is right for them.

Better Weekdays® is a validated career assessment, mentoring and matching tool that helps job seekers find great career opportunities, and companies find great new employees, easily and efficiently.

For job seekers, Better Weekdays is a personalized career GPS that guides them toward job opportunities that are the right fit for them, based on who they are, what they’ve done, and what they want to achieve.

For companies, it’s a step beyond hit-or-miss keyword matching systems, giving recruiters a more precise view of a candidate’s strengths and qualifications, so they can make more informed hiring decisions.

The JobScript® career assessment weighs candidates' career goals, motivations, abilities, and personality, assembling a detailed analysis of their “career DNA."

Then, the MatchRank™ algorithm scores the match between the candidate's career DNA and various job openings, based on data pulled from the career paths of other job seekers with similar goals and qualifications.

That MatchRank™ score is then made available to hiring companies, so that they can make better hiring decisions for their business, their office culture, and their prospective employees.

Better Weekdays® is already in the market, and the team is now beginning to automate the job matching component. Promising developments that we've seen so far include:

  • Accepted into the Spring 2014 Capital Innovators, St. Louis based accelerator program. According to Seed DB, Capital Innovators ranks second for follow-on funding success.

  • Adoption by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and 10 additional university career service centers

  • Company clients include SC Johnson, Grosvenor Capital Management, and 1888 Mills, with more companies interested pending automation

  • Collaboration with a leading technology partner that allows us to leverage their IP and scale quickly
  • $30,000 in revenue since launching our Beta version in summer 2013

  • Over 3,000 users in that same time span, and a 20% month-over-month growth rate
  • We have also been featured by a number of great press outlets:

Once we launch our automated job matching component, we anticipate that demand for our unique service will skyrocket. As a result, we will be expanding our offerings with new features over the next 12 months in order to better meet the needs of job seekers and companies nationwide.

Better Weekdays® was born out of founder Chris Motley's frustration with navigating his own career path and finding an opportunity that connected who he was with what he did on a day-to-day basis. He ultimately found a fulfilling opportunity at a company where he directed global strategy, led one of its key divisons, and built a manufacturing platform in Africa that now employs over 500 women.

But he couldn't stop wondering: he'd found his way to career fulfillment purely by serendipity—with the technology available today, was there a way to make serendipity happen for the millions of people who were still waiting for it?

The answer to that question is Better Weekdays®. Helping the right person connect with the right job opportunity at the right time: what could be more serendipitous than that?

Chris Motley, President & CEO, leads business development, sales and overall strategy at Better Weekdays. Chris worked as a Derivative Trader at Goldman Sachs before leaving to build a manufacturing platform for a global middle market textile manufacturer, where he served as an EVP. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the Kellogg School of Management.

Kunal Parbadia, Product Manager, manages all aspects of product development at Better Weekdays. Kunal worked at Accenture and led product development teams for online banking applications at Bank of America and Chase. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech.

Nick Klockenga, Web Developer, is a full stack developer building and maintaining the Better Weekdays PHP application. Nick's experiences include ETL development for Discover Financial and PHP web development at Digital Intent.

Christina Durbin, Designer, is a part time designer supporting Better Weekdays in creating the user experience of the web application. Christina is an experienced human-centered interaction designer currently at One Design Company and a design mentor for startups at Impact Engine.
