In early 1930’s England, a group of people started a society called the Inklings. They represent something that many authors would like to be and few ever hope to achieve. The Inklings became more renowned than others because they worked as a group to challenge one another, collabrate together, and sharpen each other. By doing so, they were able to, collectively, produce some of the greatest books of the time. Each Individual played a vital role in the creation of several renowned stories such as The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. Because they honed and refined one another’s ideas, they became greater than they might have been individually. Bumbul knows the powerful potential of collaboration in writing, and we want to provide a way for you to connect with others so that you can unleash your greatest potential.

In recent years, this potential has been monitored, inspected, and judged by the gatekeepers of the artistic world: critics, publishing houses, etc. With Bumbul, you will find an innovative way to let your inspiration shine before the world.

Traditional Publishing: You write unaided, submit your manuscript to a publishing house, and then place yourself at the whims of a single, merciless person who decides your fate. If you are accepted, your work will likely undergo such drastic alterations, you won’t be able to recognize it. This road presents little chance of success.

"Traditional" Self-Publishing: Again, you write alone. Then, you have to find and hire an editor and illustrator, often an expensive task. Many websites will offer a chance to publish your work with no promise of success. You are alone in finding marketing tools. Chance of success here: low, but increasingly better with more money in the system

The Bumbul Way: Our slogan, "Self-Publish, Together," captures who we are. While one human mind can be creative, a group can create to far greater heights. This is obviously not a new concept. Tom Wilson said, "Many of us are more capable than some of us...but none of us is as capable as all of us!"

What would happen if there was a community of people who had the tools to provide help, ideas, and inspiration to authors through each stage of the publishing process: writing, editing, illustration and marketing? The Bumbul team encourages you to join us as we find out together!

The Author in each of us

Bumbul provides a website community where anyone can create an account and become an author. As your write, you will be able to neatly organize your work into chapters, subchapters and notes. All data will save to the Bumbul database so you don’t have to worry about losing your hard-earned progress. Based on your needs, you will have the ability to make your book public to the rest of the Bumbul community or keep it invitation only. Once the book is finished, Bumbul will have built-in tools to publish the book on the Bumbul website.

Community

As a member of the Bumbul community you will enjoy reading what others are doing, inspire authors, and become involved with them. You will have the opportunity to offer ideas on a book level, chapter level, or even "block of text" level. The author will be able to give certain, helpful members special thanks in the acknowledgements portion of their books. Community members will also be able to grow their reputations within the Bumbul community through rewards and other recognitions.

Editor and Artist

Authors will be able to put their book up for bid to editors and artists. These invaluable people may be offered a fee or royalty once the book is published. These collaborators will be rated by authors and the rest of the Bumbul community so those who do a great job will be recognized for it and grow their reputation and demand in the Bumbul community. The author will collaborate with the editor and artist based on a built-in ability to manage access and permissions.

Promotion

Bumbul employs built-in tools that enable the community to easily share your book with family, friends and social media contacts. With traditional self-publishing it’s usually just the author and his family and friend who care about the success of his or her book. With Bumbul, if you have members of the community following your book, and you are working directly with an editor and artist who care about their reputation in the community, then you will have many people who have a direct interest in your book's success. As each of these people shares your book with their friends, family, and social media contacts, your marketing reach will increase exponentially.

We pledge to spend every penny of this fundraiser on the success of the Bumbul community. In other words, we will use your money to create the highest possible chance for success with your book idea.

Development: We pledge to create the best book collaboration website and tools possible, at no cost to the member, fueled by continued improvement through team and member feedback.

Marketing: The more people that know about Bumbul, the more diverse the community will become, the more rich the ideas will be and the more help and marketing reach there will be for your book.

Team Members: If we meet and succeed our funding goals, we will hire more talented people to brainstorm new ideas and turn community ideas and feedback into reality.

Obviously the more funds we raise the richer in features and helpful the Bumbul community can become.
