Here's what we offer...

Electricity costs are ever increasing. Fossil fuel generation sees large transmission losses, aging infrastructure and detrimental environmental costs.  Firefly Power’s vertical axis turbine uses renewable wind energy to create on-site electricity for the customer. It is typically roof-mounted and is designed to capture multi-directional winds, which is ideal in urban settings. It features a unique blade design which starts up at low wind speed and enters the power curve quickly. The lightweight carbon fiber construction and innovative patent pending blade design allows for a lighter and more efficient turbine. It is cost efficient with projected ROI of 5-7 years, and all-inclusive MSRP less than $7000.00. These scalable turbines assemble easily, and weigh approximately 58 lbs.

We offer a cost effective and efficient alternative which reduces hydro costs. These turbines mobilize communities to make conservation, co-generation and carbon emissions reduction part of daily activities and consciousness, and to develop community power ownership models.

The "why" and who we are.

The lack of affordable alternatives for site specific individual and community wind power generation led to extensive R&D, including computational fluid dynamics; material, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and four wind tunnel tests. We are now raising funds to manufacture and implement demonstration units to gather performance data in various geographc environments.

Peter Janiuk is one of the two principal owners of Firefly Power LLC. Prior to starting Firefly Power, he spent 18 years garnering retail and management experience. He developed Firefly Power's turbines from inception, to R&D, patent and PCT publication and now to production of demonstration units. Janet Janiuk is the second principal owner of Firefly Power LLC. She has extensive knowledge in retail operations and marketing communications. Janet brings extensive event planning and event marketing experience as well as project management experience to Firefly Power. Harold Devisser is the Chief Technical Officer and has 25 years engineering experience, including seven with Husky Mold Injection and 15 years with Pratt and Whitney. He has extensive knowledge of engineered plastics as well as extensive knowledge of aerospace design and engineering. Sarah Glover is our Director of Social Media. A University of Guelph graduate, Sarah has an excellent ability to use digital media to it's fullest potential, whether it's implementing new initiatives or disseminating company news.

Our gratitude and great rewards too!

As a thank you for your $25.00 pledge we offer a limited number of this great two DVD set: "Discovery Channel: Earth", which includes over five hours of beautiful and informative content!

"An amazing Earth DVD collection, will let you in on the secrets of the moon, the sun and the Earth. And everything in between. Join scientists and explorers as they cover every facet of our planet and beyond. The Earth series DVDs are a two-disc set of fascinating landscapes, human and animal life and much more.

The Earth DVD collection — it is a must-have for everyone interested in how our planet survives, from top to bottom, with the help of the sun and moon."

As an additional thank you for a $250.00 pledge, we are offering a limited number of copies of "Smithsonian: Earth: A Definitive Visual Guide" James. F Luhr.

"...With thousands of breathtaking photographs and unique visual catalogues of the features and phenomena that take place on Earth--such as rocks, minerals, and mountains to tropical rainforests and the different types of clouds--Earth contains the most up-to-date ideas on how our world works, a compelling review on the health of the planet, and unbelievable images of the world's most stunning features."

We will also be rewarding pledges with great Firefly Power swag,  featuring our stylish, unique and eye catching logo.

Micro Wind for the Masses

Wait...there's more! Other possible applications/configurations.

How we arrived here, where we are now, and where we are going.

Initial testing was completed in Jamestown, New York in April 2009, and subsequent testing in Ottawa, Ontario was completed in July and October 2009, and again in Jamestown in October 2011. Peter Janiuk owns the IP rights for the U.S Patent Publication and PCT International Publication.

We are raising money on Fundable to manufacture and install demonstration units to gather real time performance data in various geographic areas, which will in turn raise category and brand awareness and initiate sales.

and why we are better....

Our competitive advantages are unique technology, use of composite materials (carbon fiber) and low cost.

Our turbines are lighter than the competition through the use of new generation, composite materials.  The 1.8 kW turbine weighs 60 lbs, and initiates at less than five m/s. In addition, cost (a projected ROI of 5-7 years) and strength to weight ratio are both significantly lower than our competitors. We feature DIY assembly, net-metering, and our price includes all necessary components (turbine, housing, generator, and inverter). The vertical axis orientation captures multi-directional winds and is less susceptible to changes in wind direction, and has less acoustic noise emission than horizontal turbines, which is ideal for installation in urban settings.

Beyond turbines...our vision.

Our vision is to empower every electricity consumer with an affordable Firefly Power turbine, as well as bringing affordable on-site generation to locations which currently do not have access to electricity.   Firefly Power truly believes that renewable, clean, wind power is an important part of our collective global future, and all efforts to reduce global carbon emissions are critical. We believe that our children and generations to follow should not have to bear the burden of millions of mega tonnes of carbon emissions.
