There are numerous social platforms out there making it hard for people to keep up with each one. However, are the current social platforms out there pushing us towards our career goals or are they hindering? 

ForwardBoard is a social platform that connects college students and recent grads with each other and to jobs, co-ops and internships.

While attending the University of Kentucky, I realized there was a void on the web between college students and perspective employers. Students only had a few options.

1. They could attend an internship fair which only occurs a couple of times a year.

2. They could call and schedule an appointment with their advisor.

3. They could do extensive research and hopefully come up with an opportunity.

My thought was, why is it that we are all on our phones and computers all the time and their isn't a platform out there focused on college students to help them find internships and jobs.

I set out to create a solution and I called it ForwardBoard. It is a platform for college students and recent grads used to connect with one another and to jobs, co-ops and internships worldwide.

I began the project in October of 2013 where I hired a team of people who eventually bailed on the project halfway. Ever since, I've been working with a local team of individuals who are willing to help me develop the site completely. This is where I need your help. In order to complete the website with necessary features, I'm looking to raise $5,000. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate today, I understand. Linkedin is our biggest competition right now. They have millions of users. However,  there isn't a focus on the college students and connecting them with opportunities. Many people who are well into their careers use it to find jobs, co-ops and internships.

Even though we are allowing others to join the website, our focus is on college students and connecting them to jobs, co-ops and internships across the nation.

In order complete the development of the website, we need additional resources. 

Our Plan:

Bootstrap the current site- This will fix a lot of the front end errors and will give it a complete and modern design.

Fix backend errors- On the backend, there are quite a few errors that need to be fixed.

Incorporate Additional Features- There were a lot of necessary features that we couldn't incorporate with what we had. 

In order to create a web platform like this, it requires a lot of planning, execution and testing. This could take time. My local developers believe that with a September launch date, there will be plenty of time to complete all of the above. However, things do happen and it could take longer than expected.

Before development occurs, I plan on meeting with my lawyer and meeting with the team in order to come up with exact requirements of the process that must be complete. This will clear any confusion from the start.
