HARMFUL PRACTICES

  • Customers around the world are becoming increasingly aware of the consequences of using low-quality, synthetic skincare products made with harmful additives, chemicals, and without concern for environmental impact.
  • Customers understand they are risking their health by using these products and that the environment also suffers when companies use plastic packaging, unsustainable production methods, and low-grade petroleum products.
  • Customers are beginning to demand cruelty-free products – products that are not tested on animals or sourced from factories who underpay or undervalue their employees.

GREENWASHING

  • “Greenwashing”: the act of self-describing as a “Clean Beauty” brand and using vague, undefined words such as "natural" and “non-toxic", while using non-organic, synthetic ingredients, harmful additives, and unsustainable production practices.
  • The lack of transparency and the non-regulatory nature of the beauty industry leaves customers in the dark – many beauty and cosmetic companies currently practice “greenwashing”
  • Customers who wish to support clean, ethical, and sustainable beauty may unknowingly be purchasing from companies who are doing more harm than good.

While most companies outsource their production, which can lead to ethical labor issues, we manufacture all our products in our Seattle-area studio, abiding by U.S. standards for labor & manufacturing.

FRENCH GIRL: Sourcing
We source all our ingredients from well-vetted, environmentally-conscious distributors around the globe, ensuring that each company abides by fair trade standards and uses methods that reduce their environmental impact.

FRENCH GIRL: Formulation
We do not use any petroleum-based ingredients or plant sources that are in danger of extinction, overproduction, or that are unsustainably produced.

Traction & Accomplishments

INNOVATION
FRENCH GIRL continues to launch new and innovative products annually. In 2020 we will have several new launches, starting with the addition of the Lavande Blanche Collection to our existing and very successful bath and body collection. Lavande Blanche is highly anticipated by all our key accounts and will be featured in subscription boxes as well as on national television. FRENCH GIRL is currently developing products to protect skin against blue-light exposure & the resulting free-radical damage. We will also be adding to our existing Bio-Active Beauté collection which features highly potent bio-active ingredients that repair and stimulate cell growth.

KEY PARTNERSHIPS
FRENCH GIRL works closely with many major retailers nationally and internationally, including Crate & Barrel, Anthropologie, Bloomingdales, Selfridges, Lane Crawford, goop, NET-A-Porter and Revolve.  FRENCH GIRL has collaborated with numerous companies, such as Birch Box, Petit Vour and Beachly, as well. We are also currently in the process of finalizing a collaboration with the Boulevard Suites at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. This partnership will put the FRENCH GIRL bath and body collection into the hands of the most premier guests, including entertainers, that visit the Cosmopolitan.

FRENCH GIRL is a woman-owned, Seattle-based collective of passionate people devoted to creating natural, sustainable skincare that looks as good as it feels.

Kristeen Griffin-Grimes
FOUNDER AND CEO

Kristeen has been creating organic body care products for more than 40 years, and it is her love of nature and the Earth, combined with her background in chemistry and science, that makes FRENCH GIRL the company that it is.

Phil Grimes
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Phil has had an extensive career in the operations field with more than 45 years experience in budget counseling, finance, and personnel. He currently manages accounting, A/P and A/R, and human resources.

Renee S. Keel
DIRECTOR OF SALES
Renee brings more than 20 years of beauty sales experience to FRENCH GIRL, and she has been instrumental in expanding the company’s domestic and international sales outreach.

Danielle Townsley
SENIOR CONTENT MANAGER
Danielle joins the FRENCH GIRL team with multiple years of experience in Social Media, Marketing and Advertising for many high-profile clients, including Waldorf Astoria.

Audreanne Matheson
STUDIO OPERATIONS MANAGER
Audrey has many years of retail sales and project management experience that allow her to seamlessly manage and oversee the shipping, production, and new product development for FRENCH GIRL.

Patricia Weinstein
ECOMMERCE MANAGER
Pattie brings more than 30 years of retail sales and operations experience as Director of Sales Operation for Birkenstock. She was a private consultant and has owned her own retail establishments. Her experience is invaluable to the growth of FRENCH GIRL.
