Gemican Software has created a one-stop, SINGLE POINT ENTRY business software solution for small-to mid-sized business owners, nonprofit organizations, sole proprietors and households who need a better way of managing data, people and resources. 

While there are a variety of common needs shared by most businesses, each industry, business, and organization have some unique needs that require “custom programming” elements to maximize performance.

Our current focus is on developing custom software programming to meet the unique needs of nonprofit organizations.

At Gemican Software, affordable custom programming is our specialty!

Phase One Goal: $75,000

We are in PHASE ONE of our fund raising process, targeting an amount of $75,000 to get the ball rolling. Our ultimate goal is to raise a total of $250,000.

The funding raised during Phase One will be used to support the following “Custom Programming” activities:

1) User Interface Design: Plan and design the overall application look and feel, providing a user-friendly interface to increase clients’ organizational productivity and efficiency
2) Security: Provide a secure and safe way for non-profits to store user information, documentation, group security, data security and back-up of their critical information
3) Organization Info/Structure: Include organization structure, department and group
4) User Management: Allow organizations to track their employees, users, volunteers, donors and human resources
5) Time Tracking System: Allow employees or volunteers to track their project time, volunteer time, etc.
6) Reports: Create reporting tools and pre-built reports to help organizations track and retrieve data, allowing management to make better decision on projects

During future Phases, Gemican will update our progress and identify the next series of “Custom Programming” activities that will be funded through that next Phase.

Why is Gemican Doing This?

That’s simple - We want to help good people do great work in supporting their communities!

There are 1.1 million nonprofit organizations in the United States. Most nonprofits are small. In 2010, three quarters of all charities had annual expenses of less than $500,000. The potential customer base in the United States is extensive.

Nonprofit organizations and other small companies can't afford to hire an outside consultant, let alone employ an IT team. Our innovative single point entry business software platform allows them to reallocate time and money from tedious, time-consuming and costly administrative duties to focus on what matters most - to build their businesses and support their communities.

Gemican is effectively their IT department!  We are different from other software companies in that we recognize that while nearly all industries share a variety of basic business operational functions, there are also distinct differences. At Gemican, we understand that your needs are unique. A nonprofit organization will require a different type of data collection than a chiropractic office or small law firm would -- we get that!

We also understand that small businesses and non profit organizations don't have piles of money sitting around, just waiting to be thrown at the newest technology solutions. 

This is why we offer our basic suite of business software tools at no/low cost to users. Those users who take the opportunity to “test drive” our suite of tools often find they are an excellent match for their business or organization and request a custom-designed module and pay a low monthly subscription fee that is far less expensive than hiring a consultant, let alone employing an IT team!

Originally, Gemican was inspired by the need to solve a data management issue at an insurance company. Through this process, we came to realize how limited comprehensive software offerings are for small businesses and nonprofit organizations. We believe that problems become opportunities when the right people join together. We have assembled a strong team with diverse backgrounds, making us uniquely capable of solving the issues facing various industries. Below, are a few of our notable accomplishments along the way.

We launched our first release in March 2013

We built all 5 Gemican products

We have over 300 users to date

We have begun designing our first two custom modules, one intended for nonprofit service providers, the other for law firms

Our management team has more than 160 years of collective expertise in business operations; more than 40 years of collective expertise in the IT field, performing system analysis, integration, design, development, database creation and security implementation; more than 170 years of collective experience in sales and marketing; more than 100 years of serving the non-profit sectors, and more than 40 years in raising capital for businesses and non-profit organizations.

The management team reflects the company’s commitment to diversity. This includes not only skill sets, but also age, gender and cultural diversity. It is important to us that the makeup of the management team reflects the wide variety of users we serve.

While custom programming for NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS  is our first priority, looking to the future, we intend to develop modules for a wide variety of specific industries, such as chiropractors, dental clinics, etc. To move forward towards our goal of developing and improving our tools and building more solutions to help more small businesses and nonprofit organizations, we need to continue to raise capital.
