My artwork, jewelry and home furnishings can be described as modern, contemporary, and abstract. The Clientele is someone who appreciates the artistic style expressed through this type of art. Artwork will range in price from $45 to $2,500 and will vary in size. The target market will be those in the age range of mid-20’s to mid-40’s, individuals who are interested in contemporary art and may also have children in the age range of 5 to 12, which is the designated age group for art instruction. I also desires to create classes for victims and survivors of domestic violence.

 Glenda's Art, Furniture & Jewelry proposes that children are often visual learners and benefit immensely from the presentation of art as a vehicle for learning in all other disciplines, such as language arts, social studies, and math. This belief guides the development of the classes, and makes Glenda's Art, Furniture & Jewelry distinctive. Furthermore, these classes will be taught by a professional who is not only an artist but is also someone who has a Master’s degree in Education and qualified to teach.  

Because art is a vehicle for learning as well as for self-expression, it can be
utilized to provide learning opportunities for children in a way that other classes do not. For students who are particularly strong visual learners, art can help solidify skills in the other academic areas that are essential to successful, genuine learning. Helping parents recognize the importance of art in the overall learning process will be an inherent part of what Glenda's Art, Furniture & Jewelry is designed to do. 

Other potential students will be garnered from the homeschooled population in
the Dallas area, which is a significant group of children that is showing tremendous
growth, both locally and nationally. The number of children being homeschooled is
expected to continue to grow at a staggering rate over the next ten years, according to the Education News website. In fact, the number of children who are being homeschooled is growing seven times faster than the number of children being enrolled in public school in all grades, according to the site. 

This is a trend that is expected to continue, which leads to many opportunities for
Glenda's Art, Furniture & Jewelry to provide a valuable service to that community of students and their parents, who may not know how to provide art classes of this caliber. Although 4.5million students are in the public school system in Texas, the homeschooled population in 2010 was estimated to be 300,000.  

I will also be creating one-of-a-kind home furnishings of a wide variety. These
may consist of antiques that have been adapted to be more modern in presentation
through painting them and making changes to the upholstery. Consumers with a flair for the unique and modern home furnishings, as well as those who enjoy abstract art, will be delighted with the selection of unusual pieces they will find at Glenda's Art, Furniture & Jewelry. I also enjoys creating handcrafted jewelry, which will be made available through the gallery.  

I am a single mother of a beautiful three year old who has taught me to enjoy whatever life may bring. Since the age of six I have always dreamed of being an Artist and I am so greatful to see my dreams come to fruition. Besides being a mother and Artist, I am also a survivor of domestic violence. Creative expression by the use of painting has played a vital role in my healing from domestic violence. Creative expression allows the participant to dig deep within them self to express painful experiences when words are no longer feasible. While creating art the participant is responsible for the interpretation of the their work and as a result they determine how it will help to overcome adversities to create a new life encompassed with health and wellness. My goal is to teach others the value of creative expression. By starting with something simple creative expression can give someone a sense of power.

Creative expression allows one to move past being a victim by allowing the participant to express all of their feelings and release them in order to study and evaluate those feelings to become a survivor.

Long term I would also like to create an "Artist Fund" for artist who are struggling financially. The fund will provide financial support for those who may need money for art and/or living exspenses.

The money will be used to purchase more products for my furniture and jewelry line,  frame additional artwork and for marketing/promotions.
