Why Goat?

As America's notoriously diverse melting pot of cultures continues to diversify, so does the cultural palate. Though many Americans have never tried goat meat, it is the most widely consumed meat across the planet! A beloved ingredient in many cuisines, ranging from Hispanic and Caribbean to Middle Eastern, African and Indian, there are many clamoring for a fresh and quality source of this tasty, healthy meat.

Increasing awareness of this delicious, popular and healthy meat alternative continue to spur demand for our products in Georgia, the southeast, and beyond.

Goat meat, also known as chevon, capretto or cabrito, is the most widely eaten meat in the world. Popularity in the United States is increasing as
           diversity in population grows.

Goat meat is the only meat that transcends all religious boundaries.

Goat meat is lower in fat and cholesterol than beef, pork and chicken.

Goat meat is lower in calories than beef, lamb, pork and chicken.

Goat meat has iron levels higher than beef.

Goat meat has a moisture content like beef  and is similar in taste to beef, but slightly sweeter. This makes it an ideal healthy choice for meat lovers.

Quick Pitch

Since March 2012, our USA-grown and USDA-approved goat meat has been gaining interest and customers in the southeastern United States. Our goats are pasture-raised on small to medium farms in Georgia and South Carolina, and processed at on-campus facility at Fort Valley State University. As the first brand name in the woefully under-supplied goat meat market in the US, Gotcha Goat is already receiving weekly purchase orders from Kroger which distributes our brand to 260 Kroger supermarkets.

Gotcha Goat intends to become the largest goat meat supplier in the United States, providing major food retailers and food service companies here and abroad with high-quality, delicious goat meat.

We Gotcha Goat

Nearly all goat meat to be found in the United States is imported from Australia and New Zealand, and has often been frozen for up to two years before it reaches the customer. What little fresh goat meat exists in the States is produced by small local farms that lack the resources, ability, or desire to grow to meet booming demand.

Gotcha Goat is building cooperatives of small to medium farms, purchasing their happy pasture-raised goats to create a variety of delicious meat products. Gotcha Goat meat is all-natural, without GMOs and a healthier option than most meats on the market.

We operate in accordance with Department of Agriculture guidelines, to consistently provide our clients and their customers with attractively-packaged USDA-approved meat products made right here in the USA.

Go-Getting and Goals

Gotcha Goat has made impressive strides as a brand over the last year and a half, firmly claiming our place in the meat market.

  • Our product is sold in the Kroger Supermarket Atlanta Division -- that's 260 stores in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
  • We will start with product in 100 stores, and move to supply each store with at least a case of our frozen goat chunks.
  • We have presented to Publix, A & P, Ahold(Giant Foods), Winn Dixie, Meijer and Whole Foods.  We are working to place product to several of these chains.
  • We will be presenting at the National Goat Conference at North Carolina A&T University September 15-18. At this event we will be introduced to 900 industry connections in the US and abroad.
  • At the National Goat Conference, we will introduce our line of value-added goat products, Goat Summer Sausage, Summer Sausage with Cheese & Jalapeno, and Goat Jerky.

Looking to the future, we have set a range of goals for the short and long term of our innovative company.

We will expand our offerings to include a wide range of meat products, goat hides, and dairy products

We will scale our business to meet domestic demand, and explore export opportunities for our high-quality meat

We will strategically expand to serve national grocery chains, national wholesalers, state and federal institutions and the US Military

To this end, we are thrilled to share that the city of Ideal, Georgia  in conjunction with the Macon County Economic Development Authority, has contributed building and land for a new processing plant in exchange for bringing new jobs to the city. This is but one exciting step on our path to becoming a leading goat meat distributor both here and abroad.
