Evolution of the Yellow Ribbon

We've partnered with the team behind the now famous Yellow Ribbon car magnet- one of the most supportive efforts for U.S. troops to date, to create a new symbol that demonstrates employer support for veterans as they transition from the military and into the workforce. A symbol that you can proudly display for your customers, partners, employees and friends.  You've supported our troops through some of the hardest times our country has seen - now support them as they move into their next careers and on with their lives.

Why Support This Company?

Everyone knows the yellow ribbon represents support for the troops in uniform and at war. What symbol represents support for the troops as they leave uniform and transition into the workforce? None, and that is what we're looking to change.

Why do the troops need this support?

A) 50% of hiring managers admit to not knowing how to assess a recent veteran's resume. The job titles and functional descriptions sound too different from what they are looking for and they end up in the no-interview pile.

B) 53% of Americans incorrectly believe that the majority of veterans suffer from PTSD and many employers fear bringing that into their workplace. This fear is denying the majority of recent veterans a fair shake at a job.

The History and Future of the Yellow Ribbon

In 2003, Dwain Gullion and Magnet America introduced the original yellow ribbon car magnet to help veteran support organizations fundraise. Nearly 10 years later and with hundreds of thousands of Post 9/11 veterans transitioning into the workforce annually, Americans need a new symbol. The new symbol combines the traditional yellow ribbon with a new visual concept designed to evoke the cooperation of employers with veterans.  The symbol has the blessing of Dwain Gullion, with Magnet America donating all magnets for this campaign at cost.

We are raising $50,000+ on Fundable to hire at least 1 veteran to actively market the Guaranteed Interview Commitment to employers. For every additional $50,000 raised we will hire another veteran, and add 500 more companies to the G.I. Commitment.

The Employer Guarantee

Employers demonstrate their support for veterans by guaranteeing one qualified veteran an interview for their job posting: this is the Guaranteed Interview Commitment. They are then free to display the symbol on their fleet vehicles, store windows, website, etc.

About Pledge Rewards

The original Yellow Ribbon car magnet was heavily used by veteran support charities as a fundraiser. If you want to support the Guaranteed Interview Commitment for Veterans directly and veteran support charities simultaneously , there is no better way than donating $50 or $100 and having magnets donated in your name to the charity of your choice. We believe that fleets of vehicles carrying the message that veterans deserve a hand-up will be highly influential to employers who may be on the fence.
