Hiatus Urban Barbeque is the “Chipotle for barbeque.” Adopting the successfully proven model of fast casual dining, Hiatus offers succulent meats, slaws, salads, sauces and more for on-the-go urbanites. Our lighter, fresher and healthier approach to barbeque is truly one-of-a-kind, and our growing fan base has us setting our sights on the future of “Urban Barbeque.”

Barbeque is often seen as a guilty indulgence that, though delicious, leaves you feeling full and bogged down. Hiatus Barbeque owner Andrew Morrison decided to create a restaurant that takes all the bold flavors of barbeque and coleslaw and blends them with the healthier California diet.

The result: a flavorsome, lighter barbeque served fast and fresh for the active city dweller. We call it Urban Barbeque, and it is unlike any other type of American barbeque.

Our fast casual approach allows hungry customers to build their own barbeque, choosing from a simple, flavorful array of smoked meats, crisp slaws and salads, sweet sauces, grilled vegetables and more. Here’s how the process works:

Select the Style (sandwich, salad or plate)

Pick your Protein

Enhance with Sauce

Choose your Coleslaw

Add a Topping

Pay and Away

With our fast ordering process and limited number of delicious, high-quality ingredients, we are able to focus on ensuring premium quality throughout all of our products.

Many people associate barbeque exclusively with meat, but we have not overlooked the vegetarians who crave bold flavors. Our grilled veggies, baked beans, crunchy slaws and salads and delectable jams are all packed with the full flavors found in barbeque dishes.

We opened the first Hiatus Urban Barbeque in Los Angeles in April of this year. Just six months later, we have had some tremendous success. Our first location has been booming and our customers are becoming instant fans. Hiatus Yelp reviews continue to be overwhelmingly positive; and we have even been featured as having the best barbeque sandwich in L.A.

Local press has also started to take notice. Local restaurant review television show “Let’s Eat – Southern California” came and filmed at Hiatus to preview the restaurant. We have also been written up about in popular presses such as Zagat, Nylon Magazine, the L.A. Times, Urban Daddy and many more. Take a look at what some are saying about us:

Our sales are growing and our success so far has set our sights on expanding. We want to open three more Hiatus locations across L.A. to bring our Urban Barbeque concept to everyone.
