TRANSFORMING A VERBAL DISCUSSION INTO A VISUAL EXPERIENCE.
Pre-op Methods Create Post-op Problems

An obvious gap in communication between a patient and her plastic surgeon during a breast augmentation consult and the search for a pragmatic use for augmented reality visualization systems led to the idea of ILLUSIO™, using augmented reality in plastic surgery.

It was clear that they each had very different expectations of what could be done with surgery and there was no way to converge those two images. So we decided that patients should be able to look into a Virtual Mirror and see themselves, as a surgeon transforms their breasts, to achieve the desired vision.

According to industry research, 20% of women have a reoperation in the years following breast augmentation and women visit an average of four plastic surgeons before choosing one.

The challenge is that patients and their surgeons need to envision potential outcomes and then effectively convey those images to each other.

Traditionally, this has been done using before and after pictures of other women, and customization attempted through verbal conversations. This outdated process leaves a lot of room for error.

Seeing Is Believing

Enter ILLUSIO™: a Virtual Mirror to see the possibilities of Aesthetic Breast Surgery

Its beauty is in its simplicity.

The ILLUSIO™ platform features a simple user interface and answers a simple question: how will my body look after breast augmentation?

We created a Virtual Mirror where patients can see themselves as their plastic surgeons manipulate the image of their breasts in real time per the patient’s preferences.

A surgeon or surgical professional uses an iPad to take an image of the patient’s upper body and in less than two minutes, ILLUSIO™ PRO transforms that image into a 3D rendering.

Surgeons use this as a tool to facilitate a visual discussion about possible surgical options for the patient’s unique anatomy, showing the patient what options would look like post-surgery. The patient can turn side to side to show multiple angles of her virtual breasts: size, roundness, sag, lift and cleavage can all be edited in real time.

How It Works

ILLUSIO™ is a revolutionary visual communication tool that allows patients to see their future selves before committing to plastic surgery.

Our proprietary system:

  • 3D scan of the actual patient
  • Processing of tens of thousands of datasets within that scan
  • Creation of a rendering that can be manipulated in real time to showcase all of the possible outcomes of surgery
  • Most importantly, our visualization platform empowers women to be much more engaged in the consult process and in making permanent decisions about their bodies

ILLUSIO™ is positioned to grow its business into other aesthetic procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty.

In addition, our core functionality is based on data analysis and artificial intelligence. The future for visualization is AI-based predictive modeling based on historical data.
