Medical and pre-medical students constitute the first and second largest sections of the test preparation and tutoring market by revenue. Despite this fact, the major test preparation and tutoring companies— Kaplan and The Princeton Review—have disappointed this student demographic, consistently failing to produce statistically significant improvements in student performance.

Lecture Exchange provides an online platform for students to effectively prepare for the MCAT, saving them both money and time in the process.

Lecture Exchange’s primary competitors are Kaplan, The Princeton Review and Examkrackers. However, Lecture Exchange offers many features that are lacking among our competitors. We record all of our instructional time and provide these videos to our students through our website in a format which protects our intellectual property.  We employ teachers performing above the 95th percentile, a feat which is made possible because our talent pool is fed by our former students. Our open source platforms and vertically integrated technological infrastructure make us agile competitors in the market. Furthermore, we utilize the same academic practices that the AAMC is requiring of all medical schools as of 2015.

As we expand beyond the tutoring and test prep market to offer our online infrastructure solutions directly to schools and teachers, we will be competing with the major for profit players in the market: Edmodo and WebAssign.  We will also be competing for web traffic with the major non-profit providers of online academic material: EdX, Academic Earth and the Khan Academy.

Lecture Exchange’s online infrastructure allows us to match students with instructors from across the country.  Our approach to education is data driven and consistently produces excellent results.

Lecture Exchange students can access their entire curriculum through our website and online classrooms

Class meetings can be attended on campus or online.

Lecture Exchange provides students access to university level reference material as well as all official practice material from the writers of the MCAT.

All tutoring and class time is recorded allowing students to prepare at their own pace and on their own schedule - a proven strategy for success

Lecture Exchange is the clear solution for students looking for a low-cost, time-efficient and highly effective study method that will empower them to score higher.

Brandon Heaton was a Kaplan MCAT instructor in 2006, teaching pre-medical sciences to aspiring doctors at Emory University. In 2007, he transitioned into independent teaching, then taught UC Berkeley students for The Princeton Review three years later. When Brandon rejoined Kaplan in 2012 to teach at Columbia and NYU, he realized none of the content being sold to students had changed - errors included. Using Brandon's independently compiled resources, his students achieved the highest score improvements in all of the company, and Brandon was inspired to build Lecture Exchange. Since its beginnings, Lecture Exchange has succeeded in bringing those same positive results to students all over the country.

Studying with Lecture Exchange, students improve their MCAT score by 5.2 points on average — 1.5 standard deviations above the mean score change

Students have been raving about Lecture Exchange, comparing the program favorably to other options in the market

Our approach has attracted our competitors, with several high performing Kaplan faculty members applying to work with us

Research consistently shows the benefits of digitizing learning and medical schools are now required by the AAMC to utilize our approach

In the coming year, Lecture Exchange will expand its reach to improve student performance on multiple standardized tests, including nursing exams, USMLEs, as well as IB and AP science exams.

During our second phase of expansion, we will provide our solutions directly to teachers to put their classrooms online - competing with Edmodo, WebAssign, EdX and Academic Earth.

Brandon Heaton, founder of Lecture Exchange, oversees the academic end of the company, contributing his years of experience and expertise as an MCAT instructor.

Keith Coleman, founder of N2Servers, oversees the technological end of Lecture Exchange, directing online infrastructure management and leading development of the open source software.
