Thank you for the support so far!  We have surpassed our initial $100K goal and will now be able to continue our growth and the development of our technology.  We'd like to add a special offer to all of our backers if we are able to hit our next milestones.

If our campaign passes $300K, we will add 5 sheets of PET to each TAZ 3D printer reward order, free of charge.

If our campaign passes $500K, we will add an extra 1kg reel of filament to each TAZ 3D printer reward order, free of charge.

Thank you again for your continued support and dedication to open source technologies and the growth of 3D printing!

Built upon the philosophy of freedom, Aleph Objects, Inc. is transforming the 3D printer industry. Based in Loveland, Colorado, we founded the LulzBot brand on a dedication to the free and open exchange of information and innovation, and in doing so, have made a name for ourselves in the growing maker community. In fact, LulzBot 3D printers are the only 3D printers to carry the Free Software Foundation's Respects Your Freedom certification. Our TAZ printer is our fifth generation printer and is representative of the best and brightest ideas sourced from a global community of passionate innovators.

Why TAZ 2 is the Best Desktop 3D Printer for You:

  • TAZ offers the largest build area of any assembled desktop 3D printer. Print your large part in one complete piece or multitask by printing many smaller prints simultaneously.
  • New to TAZ 2 — print without being attached to a computer. TAZ 2 comes with a LCD display with a SD card reader for untethered printing.
  • You have the flexibility to use the optimal material for your project by choosing from the broadest selection of printing material.
  • Minimize your ongoing printing cost with free software upgrades, free upgraded designs and the ability to do self repair.
  • Create detailed, higher quality prints with 75 micron print resolution.
  • Finish your prints faster and more reliably with excellent hot-end control and 200mm/s print speed.

The 3D printing industry is growing at an incredible pace right now. These advancements are happening in functional features, software capabilities and the development of new materials.  Within LulzBot, our users are taking advantage of our Libre Hardware and free software approach and adding new functionality and capability to their systems and then sharing the results with us and the LulzBot community.

LulzBot printers are constantly evolving and are designed to be able to rapidly incorporate technological advances. Our users do not want to spend the money on a 3D printer only to have an obsolete relic on their hands in a few years’ time.

Growth in the desktop 3D printing market continues to grow dramatically: "SmarTech estimates that 65,000 personal 3D printers will be sold in 2013. These sales will generate about $110 million in 2013, growing to around $590 million by 2018. We have concluded that in 2013, ten firms will account for more than 90 percent of the revenue generated by 3D printers.” -- SmarTech Personal 3D printers: Market Forecast and market Share Analysis: 2013-2022 August, 2013

Aleph Objects/LulzBot is proud to be on this Top Ten list.

Our thriving community of contributors don’t just help each other out – we have our ears and eyes open for the best enhancements and developments and incorporate all the best features in our newest iterations.  LulzBot printers represent the collective genius of a devoted community of innovators, entrepreneurs and engineers. The prospect of being able to bring ideas into a 3D format without involving other vendors or suppliers is especially attractive to engineers and entrepreneurs. This compelling and exciting new technology has drawn a large number of technically astute and creative TAZ users who love to explore the endless possibilities TAZ presents for making it easier to replicate and improve the 3D printing of objects. All of this information and the ability to join in the discussion is open to you on the TAZ forum (http://forum.lulzbot.com/) and in other 3D printing on-line communities.

Since launching our online store in August 2011, we have seen incredible growth.

TAZ 2 printers are currently in production. This newest version of TAZ includes a LCD screen with a SD card reader for untethered printing. Initial shipments begin in November 2013.

We have shipped our products to more than 50 countries.

Our web store has 200 products, including 40+ filament choices.

In our first year of operations, we sold 27 printers. In our second year, we sold 196. We expect to sell 1,000 this year – and another 4,000 in 2014.

We have distribution centers in the US, UK and Canada – meaning expedited shipping for our global customers.

3D printing technology first appeared in 1981 but had been all but limited to the domain of traditional manufacturing. 3D printers are machines that are capable of producing three-dimensional solid objects of virtually any shape from a digital model. 3D printing is what is called an additive process, in which the material is built up layer by layer. There are several different types of additive manufacturing processes. Fused Filament Fabrication is well suited for thermoplastics (such as ABS or PLA) and works by controlled extrusion of molten feedstock. LulzBot's printers work this way.

In 2005, the RepRap project set out to produce a libre hardware self-replicating 3D printer, with the goal of making this robust technology accessible to ordinary people. Because of the RepRap project, 3D printing has begun to rapidly change many facets of life, in everything from breakthrough medical advances to waste-free manufacturing, and empowering individuals to create to their heart's content.

The LulzBot printer movement is growing at an explosive rate. Join us! Note: TAZ 2 design is subject to change, but we promise, it will only get better!

What level of expertise do I need to run a LulzBot 3D printer?
Our assembled and calibrated 3D printer is one of the easier 3D printers to get started with and comes with a thorough manual. Like any other cutting-edge technology, there is a learning curve. You will need patience and a willingness to learn. The good news is that LulzBot desktop 3D printers are backed by a fantastic community of hobbyists and professionals who provide help via websites, video tutorials, and forums. Our support representatives are also available to help with any issues you have, online or on the phone.

Why should I buy a LulzBot desktop 3D printer and not some other printer?
If you are looking for quality, best return of investment, for friendly service, and the greatest printing capabilities on the market today, then LulzBot is for you! The TAZ is #1 in build volume among any currently available assembled desktop printers, and the resolution and attention to detail is astounding.

Beyond that, our 3D printers are the first ever hardware product to receive the "Respects Your Freedom" (RYF) certification from the Free Software Foundation. With our dedication to free software and Libre hardware, you can feel comfortable knowing that your 3D printer is upgradeable, modifiable, and will never be subject to vendor lock in and closed-source proprietary parts.

We do not require you to use proprietary filament, which reduces your largest cost for 3D printing. Our open design also allows you the option to maintain your printer yourself; there’s no need to return it to the factory for expensive repairs like many other 3D printers.

RepRap Forum is a great place to ask the RepRap community for answers to your questions, too.

What can a LulzBot TAZ desktop 3D printer make?
If you can draw it, you can print it. Create your design in any software design package and export your model to an STL file. Some designs will require a support structure, an easy check box option in the Slic3r software.

What materials can I print on my LulzBot TAZ 3D printer?
PLA, ABS, HIPS, and wood (yes, wood!) filament. With modifications to the hot-end, build surface, and the firmware, experimental prints with nylon and polycarbonate can also be made. We are regularly adding to the materials we offer as new ones are developed.

Will my LulzBot printer need constant adjustment, or can I dial it in and go?
When you receive your 3D printer, you will need to adjust the filament tension and level the bed after shipping. While periodic care and cleaning is necessary to ensure that the printer is producing parts to your satisfaction, no extensive maintenance should be required. Ongoing care includes wiping down linear rods, cleaning out the teeth of the hobbed nut in the extruder, and checking belt tensions.

Will I need to pay customs fees?
If your 3D printer is shipping outside of the USA, you are responsible for all customs charges, fees, and/or brokerage charges when the shipment is imported into your country of residence.
