African mahogany develops quicker in Brazilian soil when compared to its home region because of favorable conditions to its healthy growth along with the lack of natural pests.
The Mean Annual Increment – MAI – of the plant varies from 3 centimeters to 5 centimeters at its DBH – Diameter at Breast Height – and about 1 meter at the shaft height (part of the tree that has a commercial destination – log).
For effect of prognosis, we considered a MAI at the DBH of 4.5 centimeters, 4.0 centimeters, and 3.5 centimeters at five, ten, and fifteen years, respectively, along with a shaft height development of 1 meter per year capped at 13 meters.
How We're Different
In Brazil, we have implanted forest to supply the global market of noble wood while preserving the Amazon, the Cerrado and their ecosystems. Our trees are planted on degraded areas: in doing that, we recover the soil and the local fauna, also avoiding deforestation in areas with native forests.
We also contribute to improve the quality of the air we breathe throughout the planet: for each 20 hectares of planted forest, we remove approximately 440 US tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
