The US indoor rock climbing community has come a long way since the first climbing gym opened its doors in Seattle in 1987. Today, rock climbing has reached such a fever-pitch of popularity that it was considered for addition as an Olympic sport for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Somehow, there never seem to be quite enough gyms to feed the US rock-climbing craze -- which might have something to do with the fact that MetroRock can't seem to grow fast enough to meet the demands of wall-crazy climbers.

Since opening our first location in 2004, MetroRock has built three thriving climbing communities across the New England: Boston & Newburyport, Massachussets and Burlington, Vermont.

Now, we're ready to make the move to the Big Apple by opening our very first NYC location: MetroRock Brooklyn.

Whether you’re a newbie looking to explore rock climbing for the very first time, or a seasoned climber looking for some competition and a way to stay in shape between trips to the mountains, our trained staff will help you to pick out the style of climbing and course that’s best for you. We make sure you’re safe but also challenged, no matter what your level of experience.

We offer two ways to climb: there’s rope climbing, where you’d be climbing higher while attached to a rope to catch your fall, or there’s bouldering, where you’re freer and just fall back onto a mat.

Our walls are innovative and exciting -- we’re constantly updating them to give you a new climb each time you come in.

Whether you’re new to rock climbing or have been competing for years, we want to give you the space you need to enjoy everything that climbing has to offer!

Bushwick, Brooklyn is one of the most up-and-coming cities in New York. Vogue declared it as one of the top 10 coolest neighborhoods in the world. With over 3 million people within 5 miles our location is ideally located.

With its trend-setting businesses and vibrant neighborhood, it is quickly becoming the place to be for everything up-and coming. The time has come to introduce indoor rock climbing!

Only 15 minutes away from Manhattan by the L train (The Jefferson stop in the MTA "L" line is a stones throw from our front door), Bushwick, Brooklyn is the perfect location to bring rock climbing into New York, and as a leader in the rock climbing world, there is no better group to bring this than MetroRock.

Our new location will be our most ambitious project! Walltopia USA, maker of cutting-edge facilities, will be constructing the walls in a renovated space uniquely designed for the NYC demographic.

Beyond the walls themselves, we’ll have a few other additions to this new location that will help you feel right at home. At MetroRock, you can:

- Learn from the Best -
We will have instructional climbing classes for beginners and advanced climbers, in groups or as individuals. All our employees are trained in all aspects of our facility, so you can rest assured that you’re learning from the best.

We’ve also made it easier than ever to get all your fitness needs from one place, so we’ve included a fitness room and yoga area for your to train when no on the rock walls.

- Care for the Kids -
For those younger climbers, we also offer after school activities, birthday parties, and a nationally ranked youth team!

- Grow as a Group -
Whether you’re a business looking to do some team building or class looking for a fun overnight location, MetroRock we want to help you work better as a group. You can climb together, do some adventure-based activities, or even do an overnight stay!

MetroRock isn’t just a collection of gyms: we are one of the most experienced players in the up-and-coming industry of indoor rock climbing. From the bottom up, we have built a nationally-known brand that has been met with nothing but success.

Successful Spaces
We’ve already built three thriving locations with more than 2,000 long-term members.

Our first location in Everett, MA opened in 2004 and is now our largest location, with an average of 220 people coming in to climb each day. We opened our second center in Newburyport, MA in 2006 with the intention of making a smaller, more niche gym, and just last year, we opened our third location in Burlington, VT, which has already passed our 12-month projections.

Big-Name Brands
MetroRock doesn’t stop with climbing facilities: we have established a social scene for climbing and created brands that have grown in recognition and reputation all around the country.

Competition circuits:

Our Dark Horse Series is the largest privately held bouldering competition series in the country. We hold 4 competitions each year, which draw thousands of competitors and spectators from across the country, and beyond.

The Iron Maiden Series is a women-only competition similar to the Dark Horse Series.

We are also affiliated with the Urban Peaks Foundation, a youth climbing charity that spreads the life-changing benefits of rock climbing to disadvantaged youths. Urban Peaks was just awarded an Explore Fund Grant from The North Face to help us with our mission.

Fantastic Future
We want to take all our success and experience and pour it into this fourth location. We are on pace to bring the world of rock climbing to New York by June of 2016. We have the industry expertise and the long-term lease: now all we need is you!
