At Old Red Canoe Distillery, we create full-bodied, rich-flavored unaged spirits, or moonshine, that combine traditional pot still methods with unique proprietary flavoring: the perfect merger of tradition with innovation.

In a market over-run with mass-produced, commercialized liquors, Old Red Canoe offers a refreshing change of pace: a truly authentic, genuine American moonshine that hearkens back to the frontier days of the Wild West, right down to the antique saloon-style bottle.

For a personalized twist on the classic moonshine, we cut our spirits with our own proprietary honey spice flavoring, which is unlike anything on the market and has won us strong reviews during our market tests.

Our premium product isn't the only thing that makes Old Red Canoe stand out from the crowd. Founders Nathan and Jacob Gerwig come from a long line of distillers — in fact, you could almost say they have moonshine running in their veins. We're also proud to be a company that not only employs veterans, but is owned and operated by veterans.

Old Red Canoe hasn't hit the market yet, but there are a number of exciting recent developments that point to great things to come:

We have completed extensive market testing with our product and received extremely positive response from customers.

We have received letters of intent from several future clients, totaling $531,000. Those customers include a number of local bars, including Granfalloons Tavern, Eagles Nest and Brickyard Tavern, who are interested in serving our product.

We have partnerships in place with distilleries in West Virginia and Georgia, and Kentucky candy company Foxy Roxy Candies has expressed interest in our spirits as well.

Spirits expert Paul Caldwell of Confederate Stills of Alabama is on board and helping us in the early stages of our distillery with his years of experience and many industry contacts.

We have identified the perfect location for our distillery, and have a positive relationship with the owner of the building already in place. The next step toward bringing our spirits to market is to secure the lease of the building, prepare our equipment for large-scale production, and receive approval from the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) to start producing spirits for the market.
