Quick Pitch

The idea for Pairents originated with the two co-founders, who wanted to set up their single parents--who were both having trouble meeting people. They quickly realized that their boomer parents were active and social, but because of the limited resources for 50+ to find companionship and socialize with peers, on- and offline, they were entirely underserved.

So we created a site to help single boomers connect to their cultural, social and romantic interests on- and offline, via adult children's social networks as well as through offline events.

Key Features

Current 50+ sites are overly busy, use loud colors, blatant advertising, and are text heavy and haven't evolved since the 90's. Pairents' editorial look and feel is modern: more visual than wordy, family contributions provide a more personalized profile, and social ties provide connection.

Parents complete a Pintrest-style “wall mosaic” profile and can link to singles-in-common through adult children’s Facebook connections.

We believe people meet through people, so "indorsers" can upload photos and add indorsements to a parent’s profile. People also meet through shared passions, so we'll also curate ted high-end and user-generated events to help singles meet offline.

Traction and Funding Needs

We have designed the entire site, and have mapped out how we will execute the launch of the site over the next year.

We're raising money on fundable, because we need early seed money to code and launch the site to prove its viability.

We also believe there are a lot of people with single parents who'd like to help them find happiness. And we can offer people a subcription in exchange for their donation--which is great early user acquisition strategy.

About the Business and Team

The Story of the Story:

Over brunch, Elissa and Emily realized they shared a problem: their recently single mom and dad were having trouble meeting quality people. They talked about setting their parents up, and that’s when the idea clicked: What if we flip the tradition of matchmaking so single parents can meet through the people who know them best: their adult children? And, thus, Pairents was born…
