Proton International:
Fast facts

Proton International was founded with the mission to create access to proton therapy, revolutionizing cancer treatment and changing the world.

CEO and co-founder Chris Chandler built his proton therapy expertise over 40 years, since his first days as a medical clinician. He pioneered the successful business model of the single-room centers.

Challenges of cancer treatment

Researchers continue to spend countless hours and billions of dollars seeking new therapies that promise fewer side effects for cancer patients. Proton radiation has been around for decades and has proven itself as an effective treatment. However, it wasn’t widely available.

Due to the tremendous cost of the equipment, only major research hospitals and universities could afford proton therapy. Because of the exorbitant cost and limited reach, oncologists rarely consider proton therapy, categorizing it as research rather than treatment.

For most patients, proton therapy does not enter the discussion of care plan possibilities. They tend to rely on traditional treatments and hope for recovery and limited side effects.

Innovation in the cancer care space

Our highly experienced team specializes in developing one- or two-room proton therapy facilities. With a business model that has risen to meet medical innovation, we provide hospitals with a cost-effective, turnkey option for state-of-the-art treatment backed by proven technology recognized and reimbursed by Medicare and Medicaid.

A one-room proton therapy center can treat up to 40 patients per day, destroying cancer cells using a precisely targeted approach. Patients return home immediately following the treatment session that lasts about 30 minutes, experiencing no pain and limited side effects.

Proton International creates efficient, financially feasible access to proton therapy, delivering on our mission to revolutionize cancer care and change the world for as many patients as possible.

New proton center plans

By collaborating with hospitals and physician groups, our team develops and builds proton treatment centers using existing patient flow through, resulting in a clinically relevant and financially feasible business model.

Recent innovations in the machines and the drastic reductions of their costs have provided an opportunity to build centers in a very efficient and cost-effective manner.  .

At these turnkey centers, healthcare professionals use proton beams instead of conventional radiation to attack cancer cells.

Like conventional x-ray radiation, proton therapy keeps the cancer cells from dividing and growing, but proton therapy features a precision that standard radiation lacks.

The manipulated protons release energy at precise depths, targeting tumors close to the surface of the skin or deep inside the body and releasing peak radiation at the tumor site. The radiation dose then falls to almost zero, meaning much less damage to healthy tissue surrounding the tumor.

With this innovative therapy, patients typically experience fewer short- and long-term side effects. In addition, the precise targeting of the tumor allows for a higher dose of radiation, resulting in more effective care.
