Actively
Disconnected

Getting healthy with physical exercise is no longer a chore – it’s a lifestyle. In fact, 72% of Americans now participate in sports activity regularly.

However, not everyone is getting in on the action.  Research reveals that nearly half of the people who avoid sports activity, do so because they don't have someone else to engage with.

For many of these people, it’s difficult to find sport/workout gatherings and communities that don’t require a lengthy commute.  Not having others to participate with often steers people to brick & mortar workout facilities, but issues persist:

Sportimity

Sportimity is a mobile social platform that’s putting an end to the local fitness runaround by giving users a direct outlet to the sports communities and events happenings near them.

Instead of searching endlessly for an active community or giving in to joining a gym, Sportimity connects like-minded enthusiasts through an easy-to-use interface - allowing any user to create or participate in social fitness activities with just a few taps.

Getting fit no longer requires the sacrifice of social enjoyment, or your hard earned cash.  With Sportimity, everyday people can search for & participate in local sports communities, pickup games, informal leagues, and even street workouts without committing to a facility.

Even if you’re just looking to meet new people and form lasting friendships, our platform is for you.  And unlike Facebook or Meetup groups, we aren’t broad in nature – instead focusing specifically on places and specializing exclusively in sports & workout events.

Sportimity is redefining the concept of urban sports communities – allowing you to get fit in a social manner on your own time.  Plus, creating your very own workout or pickup game while inviting people from your neighborhood is made incredibly easy.

Our mobile app is available on both iOS and Android devices, and is gaining strong user momentum with both consumer and business users.

How We Operate

Sportimity is a dopamine-focused app – tapping into the brain’s pleasure & reward system to foster user engagement.

For instance, we post today’s events first (meaning no planning is needed), and provide automatic calendar sync so users don’t need to think about when, where, or with whom.

The app also allows users to “friend” other users much like with today’s most popular social media platforms.  The new events and updates your friends post are readily displayed, provides an internal dopamine-based trigger that influences activity.

The Sportimity calendar is a hugely important feature that controls most of the app’s activity – but there’s much more.  Other features include the following:

Team Captains

Upon moving to NYC, Co-Founder/CEO Evgeniy Antoshkin took it upon himself to make a list of the city’s informal sport & workout events in an effort to better organize his active life.  What started as this list, would eventually evolve into Sportimity.

Evgeniy previously developed a drivers’ marketing portal while working at Gett (Israel’s Uber equivalent) and founded a public transport startup in Brazil called Ônibus.  He also spent time with MTS, Europe’s largest telecommunication company.

The other key members of the 7-person Sportimity team:

Dmitry Ageev | Co-Founder/CTO | Respected Russian IT specialist who studied at the nation’s best university (MSU) and has C-level experience at Gett and Avito (a $4B company).  Also a former IT Manager at Groupe SEB, PwC, and IKEA.

Sergey Mordvinov | Backend Developer | Highly proficient in the Golang programming language (not yet widely used), which he used to build our server architecture.

Alexey Ignatov | Designer | Has well-rounded design experience dating back to 2001, leveraging his unique take on the field into the design of both our iOS and Android apps.
