Have you ever gone out for lunch or dinner with your children and wanted to just have a relaxing time? Kids get bored, loud and make you want to get out of a restaurant very quick. One have two choices, go to a Chuckee Cheeses, or similar, and eat pizza with the kids (most parents get tired of that after one or two visits), or give the kids an iPad so they zone out at a normal restaurant.

My restaurant concept is aimed at making the restaurant experience fun for the whole family. Parents can relax while children are captivated by supervised, age appropriate, entertainment. The menu also caters for both children and parents in a cosy setting.

The Howling Javelina will be a comfortable, inviting, full service, sit down restaurant, which will be family friendly and designed with children of all ages in mind. The decor and theme will mainly be based on an African Safari Lodge, combined with a Southwestern theme. Apart from the main dining area, Howling Javelina will also have a full service bar, indoor and outdoor children’s play area, a small business meeting room, a teen lounge and an outdoor deck area used for various types of performances.

The Howling Javelina will be viewed as the place to go with children, since Austin area restaurants do not cater for an enjoyable family restaurant experience.
The Howling Javelina will be designed and run to make sure children and parents with children will want to visit us for meals. Emphasis will be placed on helping parents enjoy their meals by offering entertainment and activities for children in a safe, clean, friendly and enjoyable environment.

The real power and energy of the restaurant will come from the attentive and courteous service provided by our floor staff, and the always delicious food caringly prepared by our motivated kitchen team. Each night we are open, three managers are on duty. One manager carefully orchestrates the proper execution of the kitchen, so all food comes out prepared perfectly, and on time. Another manager attends to the flow of the dining room, there to facilitate outstanding customer service and satisfaction. The third manager will attend to the needs of our little guests by ensuring they are safe and well looked after. Our floor managers will maintain a high profile, taking the time to greet every customer at some point in their stay.

Our customer service policy is simple: All customers must leave happy about our service and food!

The Howling Javelina will offer brunch, lunch and dinner service. On Friday and Saturday evenings, we will offer live entertainment comprising of local area musicians (no large bands) and up and coming local comedians. We will have private dining facilities for group events, and will offer full catering services for events at any location within a 15-mile radius. We offer "take-out" food for those on the run! Visitors to our website will find upcoming events, specials, catering and gift certificate information.

The restaurant hours are: Monday-Thursday 11:00 am-10:00 pm; Friday and Saturday 10:00 am-12:00 pm; Sunday 10:00 am-10:00 pm.
 

3.1 Service detail

Following is a description of the various areas/entertainment The Howling Javelina will offer.

3.1.1 Main dining area

The main dining area will consist of an open flowing area, rich in color and ambience. Access to tables will be via wide wood covered walkways. Tables will be separated by low walls to provide the illusion of actual separation. This will allow interaction between tables with children. However, should a patron not want to make contact with an adjoining table, it will also allow for that. Based on experience, patrons with children often want to talk to one another. This is the type of environment The Howling Javelina want to encourage.

The main dining area will also provide a few large screen TV's so patrons can watch their favorite content. The Howling Javelina will also be showing international sport not usually available on standard USA television channels.
 

3.1.2 Full service bar

The full service bar will provide a welcoming environment to patrons not wanting to sit at a dining table, but would rather watch sports, or just relax with a cold beverage and have a relaxing meal. The bar area will also have a number of dining tables for those patrons wanting to relax in a slightly louder atmosphere. Beverages offered will cover everything from sodas to margaritas to beer to hard liquor. However, due to its family oriented setting, over consumption of alcoholic beverages will be closely monitored.

3.1.3 Indoor play area

Due to the harsh climate in Central Texas, The Howling Javelina will include an indoor play area for young children. The play area called 'Buckaroo Ranch' will be tailored specifically to children ages 2 - 12. The whole area will have safety padding installed on the walls (up to 3ft height) and floors to prevent injury. Activities currently planned to be included are:

• EyePlay type interactive video gaming system. This is an interactive gaming system which provide exercise to children while playing.
• Large, safety rated play system.
• Rock climbing wall.
• Trampoline with safety fencing.
• Separate play room for children aged 1-4. This room will include rocking horses, large Lego blocks, stuffed animals, etc.
• Movie room for children aged 1-8. This room will have bean bags children and parents can relax on to watch one of the child’s favorite movies.
   

3.1.4 Outdoor play area

The outdoor play area will be available to all patrons. This will include the following at a minimum. Additional items are being reserved for future expansion.

• Large wooden plays cape, including swings.
• Play items distributed throughout the grassed play area.
• Large sand pit with toys provided.
• Grassed area to run and play. The grass covering the whole area will be properly sodded and maintained to help absorb any falls from children.
• All play areas will be properly protected to help prevent injury to any child.
• Area to watch and feed Koi fish in large pond adjoining deck to the back of restaurant.
   

3.1.5 Business room

The Howling Javelina will provide a dedicated business lunch and presentation room for the use of local business, including audiovisual equipment. This room is intended for up to 10-persons in a comfortable environment. Full services will be provided by the restaurant.
 It is becoming increasingly evident that business persons want to provide the 'country' treatment to its potential customers. The Howling Javelina see this as a small investment to benefit from a growing trend.
 

3.1.6 Teen Lounge

The 'Teen Lounge' will be an area designed specifically for children ages thirteen to eighteen to relax in a safe and inviting environment. The lounge will be outfitted with comfortable couches, beanbags, a fireplace, board games, a large screen TV, pool table and docks for both iPhones and Android devices. The docks will be used by teens to play their own music which make them feel comfortable. The lounge will also provide a few iPad's or Google Nexus tablets to provide the teens with internet and game access. However, the type of sites they can visit will be limited by The Howling Javelina network.

3.1.7 Outdoor deck area

The outdoor deck area will be located at the rear of The Howling Javelina. It will create an inviting environment for patrons wanting a view of the activities in the outdoor children’s play area, would like to look at the large Koi fish swimming in the pond beneath their feet, or just enjoy sitting outside. In summer, the area will be cooled by a misting system. In winter, it will be heated by a gas heat lamp system. Mosquito nets will also be employed if needed for the comfort of patrons. However, Koi fish have proven to take care of mosquitos. We also intend to make use of specific plants to control any insect inconveniences.

To date, we have identified a suitable location for The Howling Javelina about halfway between Austin, TX, and Dripping Springs, TX. The site is a residence located on four acres, just off the main highway. 

Currently, there are no restaurants in the greater Austin, TX, area offering what we are proposing. We intend to become the place to go with children. We will endeavour to have both children and parents say The Howling Javelina is the place to go.
