Tom Thomsen, Founder
Tom was raised in Omaha, Nebraska where he managed hundreds of acres of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa on his family’s farm. In 2007, Tom launched Thomsen Bamboo and began studying bamboo as a potential US-Based cash crop. In 2010, Mr. Thomsen moved to Mississippi launching Southern Bamboo. Mr. Thomsen made this decision after discovering thousands of untapped acres of Bamboo throughout the southern United States. After a successful launch, Mr. Thomsen was forced to take a step back after a series of heart attacks in 2013.

Having recovered from his health issues, Tom has relaunched Thomsen Bamboo, as the American-Based bamboo industry remains largely unchanged since Thomsen left Mississippi. Bamboo has proven to be a viable cash crop for a variety of practical, consumer-based applications, and Thomsen Bamboo is once again leading the charge for a US-Based bamboo industry.
