Guys, here’s the problem: most of us hate shopping for new clothes. Going to the mall sucks, trying on clothes sucks, ordering clothes online and having them not fit sucks. It’s a terrible experience. Paralysis of choice and wide variation of fit/size across brands make the process unbearable.

ThreadLab is different. We developed algorithms and a proprietary data model to help men effortlessly find clothes that fit. ThreadLab technology standardizes the wide size variation across hundreds of brands. Just tell ThreadLab a few things about yourself including style preferences and body measurements, and we’ll ship perfectly fitting clothes from top brands you know, right to your door. Painless.

With 20,000 users, over 2,000 paying customers, and a long list of clothing brands from Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger to Puma, Burton, and Element already signed up, ThreadLab has  started the men’s clothing shopping revolution.

Join the future and sign up to get new clothes without ever having to “shop” again. Read on to learn more about who we are and what we’re about, and be sure to request access to the business plan tab of this profile for a behind-the-scenes look at ThreadLab and the vision to make getting new clothes effortless.

We know what you’re thinking: “This sounds exactly like Trunk Club. How is ThreadLab different?” We’re glad you asked!

Other online clothing services like Trunk Club focus on fashion styling and cater to the same audience: dressy business people looking for luxury and commission-driven human stylists to help create a specific “look.” Because of this, they have higher price points and customers pay full MSRP. These services are designed for styling up affluent men who are willing to pay full price, but not so much for the casual, price-conscious everyday man.

ThreadLab uses automation matching technology to solve for fit and keep our costs low. Another benefit of using technology in the matching process is that we eliminate human error and improve our matching accuracy over time. Everything a customer chooses to buy or return is tracked by our algorithms which in turn fine tune your preferences. Our technology also better matches supply and demand to help our partners move excess inventory into the closets of new customers that they would normally never reach.

In short, ThreadLab provides improved fit, convenience and affordability, not high-end fashion.

For the casual man, shopping for new clothing is a boring, cumbersome chore. A 2014 paper by Dr. Steve Taylor titled “Why Men Don't Like Shopping,” surveyed 2,000 men. The results? 80% said they hate to shop. Their reasons: it's boring, frustrating, and time consuming.

Drapers Etail Report of 2012 provides the answer to two of those reasons: 70% of e-commerce returns are due to poor fit. It’s no wonder why men find shopping frustrating and time consuming.

The problem is only getting worse. With 100's of new brands launching each year, the variations in fit across brands is creating even more frustration for consumers.

At ThreadLab, we liberate the casual man from this hell. Men like John. John is a 28-year-old young professional who spends most of his time in the office and/or traveling for work. His weekends and free time are precious. He doesn’t have the hours or the interest to follow fashion trends or shop at the mall but needs new clothing to match his active lifestyle: weekend outings with friends and family, hiking, basketball, and an active dating scene.

John is liberated from the burden of shopping by ThreadLab. Our automation makes it easier and more affordable than ever to effortlessly find clothes that fit.

ThreadLab works because we've built a data model that can intelligently predict fit  across hundreds of brands for a truly personalized, effortless clothing experience.

1. We learn about you.
We don’t just measure fit with S, M, L, XL. People come in all shapes and sizes and there are many more precise ways to measure fit. Upon signup, the more info you provide us, the better we'll be able to match you with clothes that fit perfectly. We measure up to fifteen data points for each product we carry, all in an effort to find the perfect fit. We’ll also get your preference on color, patterns, style, and brands.

2. We run our matching algorithm against the ThreadLab catalog.
We offer clothing from a wide variety of brands and we measure every item we carry:

3. We recommend optimal products and ship same day.

4. Rate how we did.
Each time you receive your clothing, you can check boxes on how much you like each item based on just about every possible measurement. i.e. length was good, but chest is too wide. This feedback loop ensures we keep getting closer and closer to perfection.

We just launched out of beta and already have 2,200 paying customers and 20,000 signed up users. The entire ThreadLab platform was built from scratch, which means we own all the IP and future patents for our unique creation.

We have also been meeting with representatives of Macy’s/Bloomingdales who are interested in using our personalization technology on their own e-commerce websites.

Late in 2015, we secured initial funding from the founder of Zappos.com and his venture fund, Vegas Tech Fund.

Up next: We are refining our perfect fit system to further improve our customer experience. We are launching a Goodwill donation service and sustainable clothing initiative. By year’s end, we plan to reach 1,000 shipments per month. To see how this translates into revenue, make sure to request access to the business plan tab of this profile.
