Sitting is recognized as a disease, and the only effective cure is standing and physical activity. However, approximately 8 million disabled people in the developed world are forced to sit and move around in a wheelchair.

This sedentary lifestyle causes physical, physiological and psychological deterioration, leading to poor health, reduced quality of life, low self-esteem, and the inability to fully integrate in society. It also causes high medical expenses, which is costly for the disabled person as well as health insurers.

The common cure to this situation is medications, hospitalizations and exclusion, which cost society an annual average of $120,000 in medical treatment plus $70,000 in loss of productivity per wheelchair user annually.

An extensive usability study with 21 patients was performed at SRAlab, the #1 rehabilitation hospital in the US. The UPnRIDE was well received from both patient and clinician perspectives, and the UPnRIDE was found to provide a unique innovation to the emerging world of wheelchair technologies.

We partnered with a VA center of excellence at the Bronx VA hospital to clinically prove the health benefits of the UPnRIDE.

MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION
Production is currently done in-house in small batches but will be outsourced once quantities increase. Distribution is done through national, regional and local wheelchair distributors and dealers.

Meet The Team 

Oren Tamari, Founder and CEO: Oren previously served at Argo Medical Technologies Ltd. (now ReWalk Robotics) as the General Manager, COO and VP Biz Dev and, together with Dr. Amit Goffer, brought the ReWalk Exoskeleton from lab prototype to market.

Oren was also the Founder & CEO of SenseTech Urology, Freelancer Int'l marketing and sales, Founding Partner of a B2B healthcare platform, Economic & Trade Attaché in Singapore, Investment Executive at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Manager of multidisciplinary R&D projects in the Israel Air Force (Major) and in the defense industry.\

Dr. Amit Goffer, Founder, President and CTO: Dr. Amit Goffer invented the ReWalk™, founded Argo Medical Technologies Ltd. (now ReWalk Robotics Ltd.) in 2001, served as CEO and CTO until 2012 and President and CTO until 2015. He invented the UPnRIDE and founded UPnRIDE Robotics Ltd. in 2014. Previously, he founded Odin Medical Technologies Ltd. in 1994 (now Medtronic Navigation Israel).

Other career milestones include Elscint Ltd. (1991-1994), Magnetics Department Manager (MRI Division). Drexel University, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Philadelphia, USA (1988-1991), where he obtained his Ph.D. and held a Post-Doc position. Rafael, Haifa, Israel (1980-1988), a Group Leader, in charge of R&D and engineering of multidisciplinary systems. IDF (1975-1980), Project Officer (Captain).
