The Gas Mower Has Met Its Match!

ZE Motion’s mission is to be a disruptive force in the lawn care equipment industry by developing innovative and viable electric solutions that topple the profit and market barriers facing commercial operators.

A Green Industry Short on Green

Lawn Care Service is a growing industry and predicted to continue strong growth in the future. However, it is an industry that is crowded with providers and has slim margins. Surveys show that fuel cost is one of the largest issues facing the industry, second only to workforce retention. For owner-operator businesses, it is often their highest single operating cost. Week to-week volatility is also a problem as prices tend to be highest in the heat of the summer when the lawn care season is at its peak.

The all-electric wiZE Rider is the perfect solution for reducing and stabilizing energy costs. The simplicity and elegance of electric motors means that maintenance cost are also drastically reduced compared to fossil-fueled mowers. Our mower is capable of saving a business thousands of dollars each year and even creates a better work environment for employees.

There is a growing expectation for cleaner, quieter lawn care services from end customers. Electric mowers currently available in the marketplace are designs that have essentially retrofitted motors and electronics into traditional mower frames. They exhibit poor balance and only run for a couple of hours per charge. They simply are not up to the task for a commercial operation.

We started with a clean sheet of paper to create a fresh design that is optimized for an electric core. The wiZE Rider is a machine that can run all day, meeting the needs of lawn care service providers and offering a host of other benefits and features not available on any of the competitor’s mowers.

More Money in Business Owners' Pockets

Our cost of ownership analysis, based on purchase price, energy, maintenance, and useful life, indicates that the wiZE Rider will save lawn care business owners substantial money over other types of mowers. It gives them the potential to save tens of thousands of dollars over its lifetime.

Lifetime Costs Savings Relative to Carbureted Gas Riding Mower

wiZE Rider: Intelligent Design

When ZE Motion created the wiZE Rider, we developed a whole new concept in lawn mower design. The wiZE Rider has five powerful brushless motors to ensure cut quality and hill climbing capability are just as strong as its gas-guzzling competitors. We kept the battery low in the frame for optimum vehicle stability while a unique and thoughtful layout allows the battery to be swapped on the job site. After operating all morning, a battery swap gives the mower the power to finish the work day. Batteries recharge overnight and are ready to perform all over again the next day. The electricity costs for those charges do not fluctuate often and are just a fraction of the cost of equivalent gasoline consumption, saving thousands in operating costs over the course of a season.  Also, there are no filters, belts, or spark plugs to replace so there is very little to do in the way of maintenance - further saving money and increasing margins for business owners.

A Future Full of Opportunities

Future upgrades of the wiZE Rider to autonomous mowing is faster, easier, and cheaper than the competition - poised to lead the next wave of technological breakthrough

Product represents the tip of the iceberg for ZE Motion - future products lineup conceptualized that continues to push the industry into a new era

Interest has been expressed in the "vehicle" portion of the wiZE platform by other companies - can be used indoors and is easily tailored to drive any tool

Traction & Accomplishments

ZE Motion has built and tested, on lush bluegrass, a full-scale engineering unit that includes our own motor drive electronics, five independent brushless motors, and our proprietary control parameters.  The engineering unit has been tested to validate our power consumption and battery life calculations and to test the functionality of our controls systems.  We are confident that our systems are ready for the final steps in the development process.

  • Nationally-franchised lawn care company ready and willing to test prototype units
  • Industry experts in outdoor power equipment design are engaged and are key team members
  • Preliminary design complete, including compliance with safety standards
  • Potential manufacturing subcontractors identified
