the confusion conundrum

Recovery is difficult.

People in crisis start with either a Google search, or a referral from their primary care physician. While there are numerous treatment options, some are urged to attend 12-step recovery programs, which have a 90% failure rate, while others begin their journey in detox, treatment, or jail.

This narrow aperture results in people being misguided in their treatment options, going down a recovery path not suitable to their unique situation, getting lost in a top-down mindset approach, or not getting treatment at all – and lives are lost due to the inefficiency of the system.

The truth is, there are as many ways to treat Substance Use Disorder as there are people. Sadly, these people are usually sent down the path of the highest revenue. Recovery communities tend to primarily focus on total abstinence, ignoring other alternatives like harm reduction.

In a time when people need simplicity the most, the current system creates massive confusion. It lacks a critical link between crisis and recovery options.
